i watched a bit of the windies kiwi's test last night and was taken back by how few people were there

what is the story?

do they charge to get in and if so is it too much?

with the windies playing good cricket and gayle not out i would have thought there would be some interest

in England and Australia we can sell out tests but they seem to have no interest at all - would that be correct?

I would expect it's down to the prices and where the stadium is situated. It's a fair way out of St Johns and unless you have transport it's a pricey taxi.

Locals don't have fortunes - I was there when Caribbean  20/20 was on last 2 years and they were letting you in to 2 matches for about £3 to get crowds in. Old stadium was much better and right in the centre of town so it was accessible where as someone got a good envelope to build stadium in the sticks on derelict land (usual Caribbean corruption)

Chinese built all the grounds in Caribbean - loan money at lower interest rates and then their companies got the building contracts as well so get cash back & Chinese companies get work as well. Even brought in Chinese workers to build the stadiums!

Play the odd match in old ground - mainly football played in it nowadays. It's getting fairly run-down looking.

Was at the ARG last November, very run down now, think some of the stalwarts hold out cricket will return one day,but it aint gonna happen with SVR being used, think it was used 2 days previously for some spirtitual gathering..So sad remember there being some great atmosphere there in years gone by and Gravy entertaining folk,it looks so sad counting the heads at SVR now.i know NZ arent the greatest attraction going but like you say 15-20mins out of town now and locals cant justify the extra costs involved.Think last time ARG was used for test cricket was 2009 when they stepped in at last minute to replace postponed game V england at SVR.
