As quoted by one of the site: "Gloucestershire's confidence and better batting form can lead them to victory"
The Friends Life T20 enters the final week of group matches on Monday and the televised action comes from Nevil Road in Bristol as the Gloucestershire Gladiators welcome the Welsh Dragons to the west-country for a Mid/Wales/West match. Both sides sit a way down the group table but could move closer to the leaders with a win although Welsh Dragons will probably have to win out from here to qualify.
Gloucestershire will go into the match as 10/11 shots to win and they should be full of confidence after absolutely battering Somerset at Taunton in their last match on Friday night. The two leaders – Warwickshire and Somerset have slipped up recently leaving the door open for the Gladiators to maybe burst through it and historically this lot have known how to get into winning situations in one day cricket. Kane Williamson has left now but Hamish Marshall is in excellent form while Muttiah Muralitharan is still as wily as ever.
The Welsh Dragons splashed out a few quid on a squad which they hoped would take them through to finals day which is at their home ground this year but they’ve just not been able to get any momentum going at all. They have lost a couple of close matches but then they’ve looked very poor in others, especially with the bat which is most surprising given they have Shaun Marsh, Marcus North and Martin van Jaarsveld in that area who are all international cricketers.
If the Welsh Dragons’ recent batting woes are anything to go by then Gloucestershire should be excellent value in this match. The Dragons looked all at sea against Northamptonshire’s spinners on Saturday evening so the likes of Murali could have them tied up in knots. Gloucestershire are showing a lot more confidence in this format at the minute and I think they can both put up a load of runs and defend them too. I’ve been a harsh critic of their bowling attack but it has come alive in recent matches and between the batters and the bowlers I think the Gladiators will get it done here.
Yeah Sky just been showing huge puddles on the ground. Commentators seem to think if we get a much at all it will be just 5 overs. Even that seems unlikely at the moment though
