There will be plenty businss done on English 1 day competitions when they begin. 4 day County cricket is a no go zone for various reasons, weather, lack of pictures, or ball by ball commentary, bizarre declarations etc

Bet on these markets occasionally, the lack of liquidity can be both a curse and a blessing at times, I generally play fixed odds draw no bet on these matches more than the 3 way markets on here.
Screaming is probably the best forumite to talk to about this, I believe he bets in play on the domestic 4 day stuff quite succesfully. |

Bookies are a lot to blame. By late Tuesday afternoon this week only VC had priced up any matches. Without a wide range of prices to compare this in turn will put off the sheep from having a bet.

Lack of TV pictures, pure and simple. I don't think it's anything to do with it being 4-day cricket: the liquidity's exactly the same on non-televised domestic 40-over and 20-over cricket.
If weather and/or bizarre declarations were a factor, then Test matches would be equally affected. But they're not, simply because they're televised. Anyway, I'm happy with these markets the way they are. I like having a virtually blank slate on which to chalk up my offers. I'm not interested in "trading". I just want a bet at a price I think is value, and I'm more likely to get matched at such a price when I'm not in competition with hundreds of punters who are cleverer than me. I stick mostly to the main home/away/draw market. Sadly I enjoy analysing the runs of the various weather models early each morning to price up the draw. It doesn't bother me that I'm betting on weather rather than cricket. In fact, I like the opportunity it gives to bet on UK weather. |
