Ok, i know we'r not even close to IPL game 36 (half way-ish)  but having seem some of the other nations creme de la creme t20 players and  a few 2nd rate aussies thrown in for good measure (dan christian) Laugh 900kShocked, haha anybody wanna offer up some early speculation on the next world t20 winners?

For me, i really fancy the windies and really dissapointed with the current offers available on here and with the books.  Anyone know if gayle is to be selected?  Id imagine he is with the price just having touched 9.00 on here.  Was hoping for high teens.

I think if they could get a proper usefull wicky (had this same problem for awhile) or convert someone then they have the making of a very good t20 side.  id much rather have a fletcher (red eyed raster lol) than baugh or ramaden?   are there any usefull wicky bats in the windies at the mo?

1...gayle
2...bareth
3...darren bravo
4...chanders  (floating)
5...dwayne bravo
6...pollard
7...sammy
8...narine
9...bishoo / shillington
10..f edwards
11..k roach

a russell...kev on cooper...edwards...  give the gloves to someone? Sad

Alot would depend on gayle ofcourse...  but from 1-7 they can all smack it and clear the ropes.  Chasing a target would probably be nerve jangling reaching like 170 in 14 overs 9 down or something.  lol.

2 out and out fast men,

Narine has looked good in the ipl, better than i thought and for me,  has seemingly come from no-where??   Bishoo really impressed bursting onto the scene, gone a little off the boil of late tho, but shillingfood looked a possibly apt replacement

possible other spin in gayle, and overs from sammy / pollard / dwayne bravo.

Has bareth / chanders ever kept??  haha.

Thinking of investing in these but want / waiting for a slightly better price, think the ride will be a good one, maybe / probably a bumpy one but hopefully a winning one / tradeable one.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Anyone care to do a similar write up of the team they fancy to win it and reasons for their choice.

Regards.....

Lanza.

if i was a selector i would go:

that would give you lots of power at the top, deep batting, 2 decent quickies, 2 decent spinners. I would also make de **** the keeper and that would allow ontong, ab, duminy and faf (4 of the best fielders in safferland) in the inner ring saving runs and making run outs.

unfortunately that aint gonna happen and the playing team is more likely to look like

LOve the allrounders in the Windies side - Gayle, Simmons, 2 Dwaynes, Samules  and Pollard can all bowl. Sammy, Narine, Cooper, Rampaul can all bat.

No idea how India and Aus are favs, baffling outright market. It should be clear to anyone who watches any sort of cricket that the strongest 3 sides in the world at international cricket are England Pakistan and SA.

India's bowling attack is woeful, i'm not sure how they plan to defend any score. Australia's attack doesn't look suited to conditions in SL either, i'll be looking to lay these two teams.

As i have stated on this forum numerous times bowling attacks win matches and tournaments, the strongest attacks in world cricket are again SA, ENG and Pakistan.

Also if you look at records, England, Pakistan and SA all have very good records in this format. Whereas India and Aus both have pretty poor overall records.

After taking all that into consideration, Pakistan at 8-1 has got to be the play, the tracks will suit their attack down to the ground, they probably have the best attack for those conditions and they have a great record in the comp, runners up, winners and Losing semi finalist (from 1.01).

yep lix which is why I haven't backed them although if anyone offers anything bigger than 6-1 i will have to get involved. Pakistan at 8-1 my only play so far. But my main point is, is that the best three teams in world cricket right now are for some bizzare reason not the 3 favs for the comp.
Report Lix April 26, 2012 2:47 PM BST
totally agree there. market is all wrong although you'll still get a decent price on Pak cos rightly or wrongly people still dont fully trust em... Plain and they've done some 'strange' stuff in SL before..

Their test series over there a few yrs ago was almost certainly dodgy but that was in the bad old days of Butt etc..

More recently they played their group games in the WC last year. We saw em concede 100 off 5 overs to NZ which didnt look right and also a very dodgy looking slow start from the openers against a minnow.

If the market was fully convinced Pak are 100% clean these days i dont think they would be as big as 8s.

They still look a bit short on batting especially some lower order power hitting if Razzaq is FINNISH at international level now Sad The BPL was encouraging from a Pak point of view with Shezhad and Imran Nazir showing they had come on. Nazir a top class fielder too. not sure if he's in their plans though. They may have to recall Kamran Akmal.... Plain His batting is fine in Asia.

Im not very active in forums, but cant resist in saying that i havnt seen a better WI side ever to play a T20 event. The only issue with them as all know is thier lacklustre and brainless attitude, but this team has Sammy to lead them who somehow gives a feeling of a decent leader with a right to occupy a place in the team by merit. In opening they have Gayle who needs no intro, with Samuels,Bravo to support in  upper middle order and Polard,Russel,Sammy to finish the big hitting. The bowling for a change looks very impressive with Roach-Rampaul to lead the attack and later Nariane to Bamboozle with able support from Sammy and Russel. If WI doesnt win or reach the finals it would be highly surpising .

If England don't solve the issue of the missing ego then they may well struggle unless they can find a new player that can fill his role.  Filling his role isn't that easy though as the whole point is he can intimidate bowlers and a new player can't easily do that even if they are bashing the runs out.

surprised James Taylor didn't get a call up for the T20 squad.
Report fairfranco June 15, 2012 10:30 AM BST

England are my biggest red at the moment, i was actually looking at the windies price and had ssnews on when it was announced that kp retires, so i laid them at about 8.4ish looking for a trade / overreaction but it hasnt happened..... yet. Laugh

For me...take out kp, and not sure shah will even get considered Crazy (tho after the ipl he should) and theres no one there that'l frighten the opps bowling and get some regular high scores.

could morgan go up the order? but then the middle order looks bleak.

patel seems to always have his place under scrutiny and under pressure and buttler even tho he's a good young kid, we'r all thinking is / when will he start cut the mustard at top level.  Bopara for england always seems to be under pressure also and i cant remember a game where he had a really high strike rate.  I think they'v all played well for england but from the knocks i can remember they were mostly in support and around a kp innings.

bresan / swann / broad /  a positive in terms of batting deep but i cant see them going at 9/10 / scoring many against top quality fastmen or spin like narine Love or ajmal And i worry if like 5 down (no kp / shah) how they might score 50 off the last 5 to set up/ chase a target.

At the top of the order (without kp) i dont see anyone that 's gonna bat for 15 overs and be close to a hundred.  Windies have gayle, aus have warner / watson, india have sehwag/gg,  even nz have jesse? / mucullum, sri lanka have dilsh where youd think theyd all be close to 100.  Bops probably be on 30 just infront of kallis. Laugh.. i like kies but will he be consistent.

After a poor start / powerplays ... i think the middle order will be under too much pressure to catch up and quite ofter collaspe trying to go to far.  I dont think theyr bad players, just the other teams will have set a better platform.  I also dont see the big finisher /s in the england side, that 'l help score the quick 30 off 15 balls at the end, bit like nz.(oram?)

No dhoni / jadeja, no pollard sammy rusell dw bravo..lol / , no afridi?, no morkel, no m-dussey / white even smith/johnson. Not even a no -perera Cool

Bowling wise... i think swann will be ok, but the other spinners wont frighten anyone. And if a pitch offers little bounce not sure how the rest of the unit will get on.  Again, good players but will conditions suit them?

For me, windies whom im on big now, along with pak, sa, aus and  india all go further than england.

but those you mention lix did seem to go ok.   Always remember chaminder doing ok in sri lanka Cool, (also seems to destroy glammy Love too Sad) so left arm swingers zak and i.pathan might be ok.  The other pathan got smashed a few times but with other bowling options in raina / kholi SadHappy and jadeja with ashwin have quite a few overs covered.

Daniel Vettori has declared he will come out of Twenty20 international retirement and has made himself available for the ICC World T20 in Sri Lanka later this year. Vettori has not played a T20 international in more than two years and retired from the format in March 2011, although he continued to play T20 domestically at home and overseas.

At the time, Vettori said he was taking a break from one-day internationals but might return, although he said he had definitely played his last T20 international. His change of heart has come with the World T20 only three months away, and one of the major attractions is that it will be played in spin-friendly conditions in Sri Lanka.

"Dan was the number one ranked Twenty20 bowler in 2009 and is widely regarded as one of the best Twenty20 exponents in world cricket," David White, the New Zealand Cricket chief executive said. "His availability is a real boost for the Black Caps with his style of bowling well suited to conditions in Sri Lanka."

Vettori has played 28 T20 internationals, the last of which came against Sri Lanka in Florida in May 2010. He has competed in all three ICC World T20 tournaments so far, and is seventh on the all-time wicket tally in World T20s, with Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal the only spinners to have taken more wickets than his 18 at 16.05

"Twenty20 is a format Dan enjoys and the opportunity to be part of a team which competes at a world event is enticing for him," Kim Littlejohn, the NZC national selection manager said. "He has been encouraged by his team-mates, coaching staff and others at NZC and we are thrilled to have him in the mix. He will offer a lot to the side."

New Zealand's preliminary squad for the World T20 will be named on July 18. The tournament begins on September 18 and New Zealand have been drawn in a group with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Report Lix August 21, 2012 9:44 AM BST
you do know the groups right?

Eng       Aus
WI        Pak
NZ        SA
SL        India

Eng gonna have a v good chance of making the semis in that group no? Pak gonna have to do it the hard way
Report lanza August 21, 2012 10:04 PM BST
Lix, i would have taken quite short odds you'd reply with something along those lines. Happy

no i dont know how the super 8, two groups will be made up. hopefully some upsets, but im just hoping windies make it to the semi's.

still same nasty red eng but alittle happyier at the mo.  i still fear kp could still go.
Report EnvyMyGreen August 21, 2012 10:21 PM BST
eng will do well to make the semis with their team

no kp = no chance imo

theyll be begging him to come back in no time

Where has this 'Mong' Envymygreen come from? Very bitter Aussie, either that or BigJoe reincarnated pretending to be a Aussie?
Report Captain Wurzel August 22, 2012 7:08 AM BST
Definitely not Bigjoe - he had humour and intelligence altho a bit one eyed - this bloke is a total d1ckhead.

lanka playing well, really beating the windies.  just hope windies make lanka go right down to last over or 2 not to damage run rate.  FINGERS crossed now for a windies win v nz and another lankan win v eng. Sad

looking at some nasty run rate damage for the windies here. Sad

worst day trading the outright by me by far... what a nightmare today was.  Really thought the windies had blown it twice v the kiwis and gave over 6k green back at stupid prices.

(really gutted)

the windies train was far too bumpy for me today.  :-(   Probably would have left it had i not laid the kiwis to lose far too much.

totally gutted.  Shouting for the aussies tomor to get rid of me green and then closing book. Sad

lanza, you were spot on with your very early windies prediction. I really think they have a great chance. Gayle will really click when it really matters. Had a decent bet on windies just when the super8's kicked off. Hope for a gayle force today.

just took 400@ 2.52 on the windies winning.   Last few games taught not to get too greedy.  With a cheeky top up on Aus at 11.00.

Hope for a few aussies runs before narine comes on and maybe top back up on windies.

Would prob av got out if given chance at 2.5 v sri lanka so doing it now and maybe jump in later.

Windies win if Gayle bats for 12/15 overs or so.

But I think the Sri Lanka spinners and Malinga will be much too cute for him and his fellow big hitters.  Hope I am wrong but I think it could be a cakewalk for SL.
