Light rain(80% chance of rain)on first day and showers on the final day.Looks ok on the middle 3 days.

Seems a likelihood of some showers on the first day, but no long term weather concerns.
Think whoever wins the toss will bat based on previous games and initial reports on the deck, but could be an interesting day is the ball does something between the showers. I was matched on NZ at 9 over the weekend, but have levelled off now to see how this starts. Feel there is too much quality and experience in the SA line up in this series - especially with NZ having a debutant opener and keeper today. However I'm certainly not discounting the Kiwis winning a game over the 3 matches. Saffers want 3-0 to get to world number one of course, and we know what normally happens when the prize is in sight  |

pitch supposedly more brown than green according to crapinfo so that rules out a kiwi win for me

Don't need it to be a draw for my 4.2 draw back to make me some money kingsmax, just need some loss of time, 100% a trade bet. Market Usuallyloves a panic when the game doesn't start on time. That's why it would be nice to have some local kiwi input on this one to see if the vague ones we've got now are anywhere near accurate.

why do new zealand persist on playing the top sides on good surfaces ? as seen in hobart on an iffy track they'd have a puncher's chance.

I have backed the draw hoping rain will push it down on the first day. I thought NZ cricket were going to prepare green wickets for these test matches.Beware of the nz weather forecast are hard to predict. Will be watching the first hour of play to c how the pitch plays.

dougy and others be careful with the draw and expecting price to come in on rain/delayed starts. this is exactly what led to the downfall of the rolo empire in cape town. sometimes it happens so fast and before you know you are farked

Lots of rain been around so a delayed start is almost priced in now I think.
Unless it lingers, or mopping up is slow I don't see a big drop. The projection for the next three days is clear now, so time to make up overs. |

I always felt the market over reacts to seeing the rain came down even though it was predicted.

420 to 450 overs with time made up makes me think SAF have enough time to dominate this. Its not like they are at the start of the tour. They have imposed themselves since thw t20s. SAF for me

On that basis - even if they get an hour in at the end - max 3.5 hours play. Potentially 52 overs, but probably put tea in as well.

Draw not moving down as much as i would like. i think market weary of NZ batting line up. After Vettori no proven batting against world class SA bowling unit.

draw goes sub 3.0s at some point if saffers are batting 1st. DV always good for draw backers.. can bowl plenty of maidens without ever running through a side.

That Van Wyk is a really good inclusion plus taylor and vetorri back, i said on another thread 3 zip saffers based on 50 over perfromance. However refelcting on those 50 over games the NZ batsmen only struggled with R/R they looked at ease scoring 3 an over and never really looked in trouble.

will have to remember to hop off the draw train at some point and take some green as I failed to do last time NZ played a home test. (20 zimbo wkts on day 3...  ) Saffers still very likely winners against the worst kiwi line up in 20 odd years here. |

A bit harsh LIx worst team in 20 years, doesnt look that bad to me, but feel we gonna get 50/60 overs in today now with improving conditions, so with early starts no real time lost
