probaly will be Tokyo for geographic reasons, and I suppose it would be the best choice too to have good games. Can't imagine Turkey raising enough money to organize it well and the people to fill the stadiums (look at the desaster with the motor racing track in Istanbul). Which month should the Games be held in Istanbul for religious (Ramadan) and climatic reasons? Similar doubts on Madrid for economic (though I can't predict the developement over 8 years, but the current crisis is deep in Spain) and climatic reasons.
Though I may come across a bit rude recent history showed that the best games are organized by very wealthy countries (Sydney, London). On the other hand I can't imagine a similar hype like in GB to come up in Japan. Maybe we have to wait 12 or more year to enjoy similar good Games again.

nothing will ever compete with London, and that should not be the rope to hang the next poor souls.
some brits i spoke to all said how it was "unfortunate" for London to follow Beijing. Beijing is a heinous, foul, polluted place where the people are not free. to compare a few people banging drum

s, as if that can compare with the soul and life of UK and London.
supposed to be the world games, to spread peace through the power of sport.
it has never gone to the muslim world, so i would like to see it go to Istanbul.
people criticised the World Cup going to Africa, as if Africa could not organise anything. it went ok.
sure IStanbul cant compete with London, or probably not even Beijing, but i would love to see it.

Ramadan is every 50 weeks so in 2012 it will start in April so that would not be a problem, though the heat could be unless held around Sept/Oct

Doubt Spain will be able to afford it as it will probably have reverted back to being a 3rd world country...........No way they'll risk Japan, earthquakes are forecast to rise in number...that leaves Istanbul ! Expect the Olympic committee will ask london to step in and hold them.

i think istanbul is quite attractive to the IOC cos it's the gateway between europe and asia/the arab world. no realistic prospect of the olympic games being held in the middle east currently despite the ludicrous decision to hand the world cup to qatar. turkey would represent a decent compromise

Don't think there would be great public interest on the event by the home crowd in Istanbul, whether it's lacking interest in itself or lacking money to buy tickets I can't judge.

this is the country that turns up to football kick offs at 7:30pm at 12:00pm and make 10 times the noise of the brits?
it remains the bridge between asia and europe, lots of people would travel there.
i would love to see it but presume crusty old prejudice would prevent it, yellow people being preferable to brown people in these racist old buffers that make these decisions.

My expection is built on what happens to big international sporting events held in Turkey. For example the motor racing track near Istanbul is hardly used, and the F1 and MotoGP race had very small attendance. Not sure now how it was on the WTA masters, watch it this year when it's for the 2nd year there in October.
