Maybe it is , but not aware so far of any .

Bowls is a sporting activity based world wide , anywhere there is grass is suitable , and a bit of sunshine helps . It also brings in the possibility of involving more older folk as the physical aspect is not as relevant , and being 6 foot seven is no advantage .

When you see some of the "sports" for which people are being branded "Olympians " cant see any argument against bowls .  And it is not an expensive sport , £200 and you are up and running for life ( apart from the cost for sandwiches and buns ) .

There is a pool, why no pedalo racing? Crazy golf too seeing as they are putting in boring Golf anyway. Should add Bowls, seeing as there is Curling in Winter Olympics.

I can't watch Curling. It looks too much like housework.

There has been an obsession within the Olympic movement over the last 50 years to "involve the young people " .  Valid enough argument , except where being in the age range 12 to 16 is a definite advantage for whatever reason .  Then it becomes the "Kids Olympics " .

Traditionally athletes do not mature until they are 18 plus  , and sports where being young and supple / plaible are only of interest to those in that category ( OK being 7 foot plus helps in basketball etc , but I am not a fan of that particular sport ) .

I also think the real sporting people are missing a trick , why not height and weight graduated athletic events ? And activities like bowls which are not dependent on sex or physical make up , just skill .

Ah, bowls ... wonderful game.

Of course it should be in the Olympics. Who will ever forget the sight of Kelvin Kerkow ripping off his shirt after winning the gold medal at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006.

It's a sport of intense skill ... and for those who understand the game, high drama. Makes great television, in my opinion.

I understand that not everyone likes it, but you can say that about Yacht racing, dressage, diving and a host of other Olympic sports that I would classify under the general heading of "paint drying".

Bowls is one of Australia's biggest participation sports, and in the last decade or so has become increasingly popular among younger people. You should see all the hip young eye candy that flock into my local club in inner Melbourne to play social bowls during the summer. They leave the beach volley-ballers for dead.
