40 million for the opening ceremony.
14 billion to put on the whole games.

England has just had it's third quarter of negative growth. It is a double dip recession and yet they have just spent 150 million on a BMX track . Is this a joke. What the hell is  wrong with a few mounds of dirt.

I feel sorry for the tax payers of England as you will be paying this debt off for decades. Sponsorship will only pay a small portion of this debt.

No country can afford these games . They have got completely out of hand.

England won't be paying for anything, since it doesn't have a government. You mean the UK right?

£9bn really is chicken feed in the scheme of things, and its £9bn over 7 years.

So what, 1.3bn per year is unaffordable for a £1.3tr economy? We send 10 times that out of the country on foreign aid every year.

Worth every penny for me, just for the national goodwill i've seen these past 2 weeks.
