Did UK Taekwondo ever actually explain the selection? I still don't understand why Cook wasn't picked. Feel sorry for this lad today though - it wasn't his fault they picked him.

yes I wasn't laughing at the player
just the jumped up little pricks that run the Association Cook had beaten the Spanish guy (and everyone else in the competition) in the last year and no they never explained it and the only conclusion you can draw is that they were punishing Cook for doing it on his own |

What happened JR?

Disgraceful

it's a long story but basically GB has the #1 World ranked player, Aaron Cook, but for various political reasons selected Lutalo Mohammed who just lost - to a guy Cook has beaten

Not sure there is any other conclusion |

Indeed. I find it amazing that a sports body receiving millions of what is effectively public money do not need to explain their selections.
Still, Jade Jones has probably got them all off the hook. |

the lad is still there, in fairness he's leading in this medal fight
|
|
By:
yeah fair play to the lad, got a bronze
but that does not justify GB taekwondo's treatment of a world number 1 |
|
By:
not his fault really, earned his medal under the pressure that was probably at times unfair

Sarah Stevenson defended the decision saying that being number one doesn't matter and she found it unfair GB selectors were being criticised........However Martin Samuel of the Daily Mail noted that Stevenson is married to Steve Jennings, who is on the selection panel for GB Taekwondo.
Stephenson was beaten in the first round ![]() |
