Women's 800m Final

as posted in the thread I started on Semenya, no woman can beat him after some weeks of proper training, always shows surprising improvements on championships, shouldn't be allowed to compete against women.

Certainly looks pretty strong in the upper body.

Russian will win this one.

be careful, Russians have proven over the years to be able to run fast times prior to championships, but they very rarely delivered at the point, and mysteriously disappeared as quick as they came up, a new generation almost every 2 years

I have Savinova at 4.9 and I'm more than happy with that.

I think this revolves around whether you believe Semenya can still kick clear with 200 metres to go. If she does the chances are the others will be left too far back but qualification would suggest there is a doubt and at present odds Savinova at 7/2 1/3 EW looks the safer proposition. The other Russian has also appeared to qualify with a bit in hand but on the clock has plenty to find.

I've a few pence on Ekaterina Poyistogova.  She looked v comfortable in the earlier rounds.

One of the best tactical runs by a woman athlete at the Games. Absolutely dotted up and far too much made about Semenya cutting back the lead. She hardly made any inroads whatsoever and almost certainly wouldn't have beaten Savinova however the race was run.
