Ye Gods, they'll be giving medals to any old herbert next.

While they are at it, why don't they give a medal to the pre-war Village Bobby that led Chris Hoy and others for 5 laps during the Keirinfallon race?

completely incongruous

remember the 'inclusivity' in the opening ceremony?

feck me, two separate teams that won medals included members of their Royal families (zara and the grandson of the king of saudi arabia)

total bollox

The quintessential Olympic sport.

No one for love nor money has a clue what's going on. A bunch of horsey types from a world more closed than the Magic Circle get a bunch of Lippizaners to do back flips, then suddenly the crowd (and country) goes fkin bananas as we've won another Gold medal.

Never mind the quality, just savour the quantity!

Then 30 minutes later a black lass from Inner City Leeds smashes a Chinese to pulp and we win another one, a juztaposition that has me curiously teary-eyed Happy

Have to agree, it was amazing.  Thought the dressage was staggeringly beautiful and artistic.  The two medal winners have just been explaining their experience in typically articulate fashion on the Beeb.

Thought the infectiously cheerful pair of Nicola Adams and Jade Jones were both brilliant when thrashing strongly fancied opposition.  Talk about walking a million miles for one of their smiles.

With Bolt heading an amazing Jamaican 1-2-3, just another fantastic day in my book!

To think Ian McCulloch probably thought he was being wacky when he wrote "Bring on the Dancing Horses"  Happy

This gives me hope that girl-on-girl nudey prod games might yet be incorporated into the Olympic programme.

It's a thought!

Judges scoring for artistic interpretation?

Or electrodes on the rasberry ripples to see who climaxes first?

Anyone have any idea how the scoring worked?

I mean, 83.499% WTF!

Beating the Germans with a horse dancing to The Great Escape theme almost as good as it gets. They need to start working on the routine for 2016 using The Dambusters theme now.

They had the French girl Dujardin (must commend her on her competence of the English language) in studio earlier suggesting anyone on her horse Almagro probably would have won.  Surely it's time to relegate this event to the Horsey Olympics whenever that is.  That said for the first time in history I watched Dressage for more than 2 seconds and it was ever so slightly more bearable than the most ridiculous event in the Olympics, the 50km 'race' walk

Yeah, anyone could have won on that horse.  She probably hasn't even bothered training it or practising for years before.  For the last 100 years, the 'Horsey Olympics' has been held every fourth summer.  It's called the Olympics.

Dujardin was born in Enfield.  Think that's somewhere near Toulouse if memory serves.

Enfield played a part (indeed my favourite part) of the Sir Alan Stanford cricket scandal story. Who would have thought that a multi-billion quid pretendy business would have had its global accountancy HQ in some rooms above a chippy in that fair town?

I'm a convert to these posh girls names which also manage to include a foreign-language description of a part of the home environment.

Roll on Rio 2016 when it is to be hoped that Harriet de l'Outsidebog will bring home the gold....

I've heard the new kid on the block in Dressage is the Norweigian heiress, now operating out of Peckham, Ilke Popup-Tostir.

Indeed, truly amazing that our 3 worlds are in sync  !!

Dandy John has I fear finally lost the plot. He appeared to be recommending polygraph tests for all as a first step.

I was unable to watch this on Thursday.

I've only just got round to finding a replay.I can see what all the fuss has been about over Charlotte and Valegro. It was a stunning performance. I watched the others too, I loved the Lion King routine.

Sadly, Blue Hors Matine had to be put down a couple of years ago, aged 13. She broke a leg when out in the field.
