Least olympian of sports?

I'd like to see the horses run round on their own, the sailing competitors are given boats by the IOC (by lots) to use so they aren't their own boats - oh and table tennis is played by about 1/2billion people but apart from that your points are secure imo.

The answer is football btw.

Just saw the Brit medal winners on the Olympics morning program. The presenter asked them an awkward question - which was really more of a statement, and a slap in the face - about the accessibility of the sport, with regards to money.

She answered: based a what different backgrounds we're (the 3 Brit Gold winners) all from I think it shows that anyone can do it, you just need to access the right people ...

Football for me. Should definitely not be in the Olympics.

And although i enjoy watching them play, it's hard to see many Olympians in the USA Basketball team as they stroll to a 30 point victory each night. It's a bit like asking Man Utd to go and play in the Conference North for a season.

synchronised swimming (posh people dancing in water)
archery (posh darts)
trap shooting (posh people shooting game)
fencing (posh people fighting)
equestrian (posh people do gymkhana)
modern pentathlon (posh people stick all of the above together and run around in circles)

Yes - should replace all the above with 'carrying as many chips on your shoulder as possible'

Exactly. Any sport in which the Olympics is not the most coveted prize shouldn't really be here. Football has the world cup and champions league, who cares about the Olympics. Tennis players would obviously rather win grand slams. Basketball players would rather win the NBA.
In Rio, they're bringing in golf to the Olympics. Obviously a golfer would rather win a major so i see no point in it being at the Olympics.

Almost all sports have their own international competitions such as World Championships so I don't agree with this. Men's football should be thrown out though since it's a U23 tournament.

Table tennis is a really skillful sport. It's far more deserving of being an Olympic event than velodrome cycling, where you get given a £20k NASA inspired bike to ride round a track a few times. The cyclists with the best bikes clear up.

I have a problem with anything relying on a judges score, but I'm not competing. Participants seem to accept their scores with good grace for the most part so whilst I can't get steamed up about Dressage for example, if it's a choice between GB winning or not, then it's us every time.

Never understood why they have to have marks for artistry in ski-jumping though. Nutter hurtles down a mountain, jumps off a high cliff and the winner is the one who gets furthest and survives, end of!

Talk about over-egging the nutter ommlette.

diving - they are only in action for about 12 seconds each

Synchronised anything .  Who ever came up with synchronised diving  , and why limit it to 2 , why not 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 etc , pool size permitting ?  Whats wrong with a 3 legged race comparatively ?
