Here's her efforts yesterday on Phillips Odowu's poor efforts in Triple Jump Qualifying:
Denise Lewis, BBC Sport athletics pundit On Phillips Idowu's first attempt in triple jump qualifying: "I'm surprised he looks as good as he does. He looked very laboured even in warm-up Denise Lewis, BBC Sport athletics pundit On Phillips Idowu's second effort in the triple jump: "One of the telling signs is that he's not going to touch whatever part of the body is injured. The reception he is getting from the crowd must really be helping him." Well I was there and the reception for him was what you could call muted, compared to the loud support for every other Brit taking part, even the 'useless' Javelin thrower. Katharine Merry, Olympic bronze medallist and BBC athletics commentator On Phillips Idowu's failure to make the triple jump final: "What a horrible, horrible number 16.53m is. He was 3cm short but would have had a nervous wait even if he had gone further to see if he was in that top 12. He was rusty, the shape he was in just wasn't good enough. He still gets a ripple of applause from the GB crowd." |

By:
she looked so fake in that clip of them shouting home Mo Farah
By:
She is one of those annoying people who say everything twice as if it enhances what she says.
I said she is one of those annoying people that............. |
By:
Yeah I find the repeating everything very annoying. Like Colin Montgomerie when commentating on golf
By:
Great arse and lovely p$ssy.
By:
Denise Lewis's ego is getting bigger every time she's on TV. She thinks her pathetic fake exuberance has made her a huge TV star.
By:
Johnson's face a picture when Denise did her 'Mo-bot'
By:
She will 'put her neck on the line'. Nonsense chat. This is car crash. Retort from MJ 'Why would she not want another gold in four years?' Comedy TV only as an observer
By:
MJ is mortified, lewis is a numpty
By:
What was that drivel concerning teacher and pupil and ****
By:
would love a blowy off denise and them bubba lips
By:
She is the worst so-called' expert' I've ever seen since they let Freddie Trueman loose on World Series Cricket in the late 70's.
MJ is a consummate pro- it's a really good job he suffers fools gladly (or appears to anyway...) |
By:
she is the athletics version of mick fitzgerald, pretty good at her chosen sport but really naff at presenting and talking about it
By:
fitzy is a miles better pundit than lewis
not so good looking mind |
By:
I used to think she was fit until she started commentating.
By:
Cymro - you are so wrong. Do you not remember BBC getting the prize catch of Cathy Freeman as an expert. All she did was go "wow" with the occasional "oooooooooooh".
It was excruciatingly embarassing and think Beeb let her go after a few days. |
By:
I don't rate Denise as a pundit, her talents obviously lie elsewhere, but I find Colin Jackson far more irritating. I'm sure he's a nice fella but he just states the bleeding obvious every single time. No insight and looks even worse next to the brilliant Johnson.
When watching a slow mo replay of a sprint: "he was fast out of the blocks". ![]() When watching hurdles: "he doesn't want to hit a hurdle" ![]() When the Brit trails in last: "he'll be pleased with that". ![]() |
By:
He said something along the lines of "I think Jamaica will be pleased with that" after their 1-2-3 in the 100m in a tone of voice suggesting he was being very insightful.

My 2p's worth. She's usually not that bad during other events and championships. I think there's a few reasons why she isn't doing well here. Nervousness about the GB athletes. The fact it's a home games/distractions. The work load, mornings and often on the evening show and possibly a slight hint of jealously of not being able to perform at these Olympics. All in all she's not working at 100% of her abilities as a pundit. I remember Sue Barker a few years back - she was horrendous. Not as bad these days though.
She's certainly better than Kelly Holmes, might be good at running but struggles to get her words out of her mouth when the cameras are rolling live. |
By:
...either that or she's just f***i*g sh-hite.
Same as Sharon Davies in the swimming. Great shag / poor commentator. At least she's just self obsessed and not a psycho like Davies. Look into the eyes lol.... |
By:
met Davies quite a few times in the early/mid 80s when she was dating judo world champ Neil Adams - she used to come to quite a few National squad training sessions and some times took us through some stretch sessions
as mad frogs box of |
By:
yeah, could see it a mile off. The fellas she's had have taken a few years to work out their mistakes. Seen her type all over. Vacant behind the eyes (shudders)
By:
Did Neil Adams not do a runner
By:
lol, they all do!
Derek Redmond ran so fast he fook*d his other hamstring! |
By:
Just a shame she managed to get rid of Bill Sweetenham, just as he was turning round British swimming. Now look at us :(
By:
was she prone to giving Old Bill a rusty trombone?
By:
yes he packed her in, she was doing his head in
freaky eyes and madly intense, desperate wannabe |
By:
Strictly Come Dancing for Denise imo.
By:
she has already done SCD
By:
should get johnson on SCD hes so good he could present it and compete at the same time
By:
Presenting SCD

Anyone know why Johnson doesn't work for US tv covering the Olympics? He's one of their all time greats. Is it simply a case of we pay him more?
Can't imagine the likes of Redgrave covering the Olympics for another countries tv. |
By:
May be he does it's not live on NBC apparently.
By:
If you think our pundits our bad then you've never watched US TV during sports. Google Carol Lewis and you will quickly see why Johnson doesn't go anywhere near US television.
By:
^ my guess is US TV don't do reasoned analysis, just "hail to the chief", "salute the flag", "go USA", "USA is the bestest", and such and such.
