Report BARNEY15C August 5, 2012 4:40 PM BST
gold plated silver - would be in the high thousands if solid, we are in a recession after all
Report wykhamist2 August 5, 2012 4:42 PM BST
Apparently they cost £8 million in bullion. Cannot believe the gold ones are solid though.
Report BARNEY15C August 5, 2012 4:44 PM BST
they arent and to my knowledge never have been.
Report DonNo1 August 5, 2012 4:45 PM BST
Thought they used be, still mainly gold apart from the plating I think
Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg August 5, 2012 4:45 PM BST
they arent - the gold medals are gold plated silver. the last gold medals to be pure gold were Stockholm 1924

Report BARNEY15C August 5, 2012 6:31 PM BST
its a lot of weight round your neck tho' nearly 1lb weight, you'd know it if you get smacked in the face with it.
Report EVILROYSLADE August 5, 2012 7:41 PM BST
Gold app £400, Silver £225 and I do believe the bronze are worth £3. I kid you not. I wouldnt mind a bronze anyway. I could sell it and donate it to Horse Racing Experts diminishing bank!
Report BARNEY15C August 5, 2012 7:48 PM BST
must be dead chuffed to be worth £3 musn't it?
Report Makybe_Diva August 6, 2012 9:05 PM BST
I think seeing as we are in recession we should have made them of chocolate...like the ones on a chritmas tree.

That's what they remind me of Happy
