Men's Olympic Sprint bets

Here are my thoughts on the Men's Olympic sprinting. It's hard to bet against Usain Bolt. You'll find best value in the treble: Bolt to win 100m, 200m and 4x100m is best price with Skybet at 2/1 (can't see this on Betfair?!). Having said that, Blake has ran fastest this year in 100m (9.75 secs) and 200m (19.80 secs), albeit with a much greater tailwind in the 100m time (+1.1m/s) vs. Bolts 9.76 secs (-0.1m/s). So, he is Bolt's biggest threat, and a good hedge for the Bolt treble. I'd rather hedge the 100m with Blake to win at 2.98 on Betfair, given Bolt's propensity for a slow start. In the 4x100m, USA to win is a good hedge at 4.8 on Betfair, the team having ran the fastest relay time this year at 37.61 secs vs. 37.82 secs for Jamaica.

Any other ideas?

so yr recommendation is bolt to win the treble but u also think blake is a good bet to bt him in the 100m and USA are a good bet to bt him in the 4x100m??? erm..... very canny lol

No, I'm just saying that if you place the Bolt treble bet and need to hedge, Blake is the best option in the individual sprints and USA in the 4x100m. You're right that it doesn't make sense to hedge 100m as it's the first event, so fair point! But, if Bolt runs a lousy 100m then you'll need to make your money back on the next two events.
