I thought the other 2 GB girls ran well also, equalling seasons best.

Like the very biast commentary lol, forgot to mention the girls in the outside lanes in Ennis's heat who also ran very well.

Report ReaseHeath August 3, 2012 10:45 AM BST
same as elise - looking to lay but reluctant now - would n't say bulked up, just looks very lean.

Clearly had ideal, injury free prep
Report subversion August 3, 2012 10:47 AM BST
bulked up, low body fat, smashing her personal best by a large margin

wonder if the chinese swimmers will have anything to say about this

Elise , just saw ur post about denise lewis , was she that bad on that flight ??
Report subversion August 3, 2012 10:57 AM BST
she's a sprinter and a jumper, her weak events are the throws
Report Biscuit1979 August 3, 2012 10:57 AM BST
Looking through her wiki page, at every major championships she's competed in, she's never finished outside the top 2 in the hurdles.
Report elise August 3, 2012 10:57 AM BST
awful, she delayed us first of because she was shopping, just got worse from there
Report nicky27 August 3, 2012 10:58 AM BST

yes, they were going to pull her bags off, the capt came on the tannoy

i saw her wandering round duty free with her husband and an airport employee/personal shopper helping her make purchases, didn't dawn on me until she strolled on she was on the same flight

Report djwebby August 3, 2012 11:06 AM BST
I'm not believing Elise at all.  They wouldn't delay a flight for that reason.

had a seat behind her on a flight from tampa a few years ago, a miserable, moaning, rude, fussy cow

I know Denise personally and can say that I have never found her to be miserable, moaning or rude.  I have always found her to be a really  great person.

Report judorick August 3, 2012 9:01 PM BST
1.33 to lay now, that should shorten after the 200m

and then should drift after the long jump and javelin... prob evens going into 800m
Report KIMBLE August 3, 2012 9:10 PM BST
evens, are u serious?

that my tactic all the same tho i dont think that high
Report ReaseHeath August 3, 2012 9:12 PM BST
all set up for sth special from both Brits here - sub 23 secs for Ennis very possible

Fantastic run
Report judorick August 3, 2012 9:16 PM BST
got a lovely chunk done at 1.25 ave, gonna keep going, bound to drift especially after the javelin
Report ReaseHeath August 3, 2012 9:18 PM BST
she might drift after two no jumps in the long jump!
Report judorick August 3, 2012 9:21 PM BST
Michael Johnson 'concerned'

he knows... Wink
Report asparagus August 3, 2012 11:40 PM BST
Could easily be 1.01 after the javelin imo. Obviously she could blow it completely in the javelin but i don't really see a trading opportunity. You either lay her or back her. it's highly likely to be more or less decided before the 800m
Report judorick August 3, 2012 11:42 PM BST
have laid 1.25

1.1  she will be bigger than that after the long jump
Report no moves August 4, 2012 12:57 AM BST
I've been giving this my very great attention and after long deliberation my informed opinion is, if she doesn't win the gold medal tommorow its long odds on the members of the forum will be refering to her as Jessica in 24 hours time

and if she fails even to make a rostrum she'll have the ignamany of being referred to as Ennis, trust me the safest bet of the games.
Report judorick August 4, 2012 1:04 AM BST
you think 4s on Ennis is the bet of the Games?

bollox
Report KIMBLE August 4, 2012 1:19 AM BST
rick, care to hazzard a guess at prices after long jump, then after javelin. thanks
Report judorick August 4, 2012 1:39 AM BST
well mate you have to workout the probable range of scenarios:-

Take the long jump first.

Ennis is capable of doing anything from a PB to abject failure. A PB would make her price shorten into 1.12 ish (only allowing slight opportunity for a phuck up in the jav). A bad showing in long jump (combined with good efforts from rivals who are better jumpers anyway) will see the gap close and then Ennis could be 1.5

I suspect she will do a 'competent' long jump, similar to her shot and high jump and trade around 1.35

Now, the price range post javelin will be free 1.05 to 1.85 depending on how she throws

remember she lost the World Champs due to a bad javelin

also remember Chernova has a much faster 800m PB if I remember correctly so Ennis will need a lead going into the last

what's your reasoning?
Report KIMBLE August 4, 2012 2:04 AM BST
yeah cant see a pb in long jump jumping off the other leg.

hopin she makes a mess of it tbh.

javelin is worse so i think its a great value trade, v small downside
Report judorick August 4, 2012 8:39 AM BST
yeah that was my thinking too
Report Arsenal Oldie August 4, 2012 8:44 AM BST
laid at 1.23 - a lot can happen here.  anyone know what time the 5th event starts?
Report Lance in France August 4, 2012 9:03 AM BST
10.05
Report FatherMaguire August 4, 2012 9:09 AM BST
Chernovas PB in 800m is 1 second faster than Jess, but the javelin is 7m longer and the long jump 30cm - not sure how this converts into points, I asked Brucie and he just said 'prizes' which was mystifying
Report elise August 4, 2012 9:14 AM BST
father, if they both did their pbs in te 3 events jess would win by less than 50 pts

the last event it's about 16 pts per sec if it gets that close

jess has a lead of 315 pts over chernova which would just be enough as long as she puts in solid results

other athletes either have a weak event or will score approx the same as jess, i make it jess is on for about 6930 pts
Report elise August 4, 2012 9:21 AM BST
just on chernova, she hasn't looked 100% on day one, just question whether she is in form to score over 3000 pts today so if she doesn't then closest competitors are likely to be askujte & fountain, unless jess drops a right one i think she'll hold them

my points estimation was chernova 2nd, fountain 3rd, askujte 4th, swartzkopf 5th, but obv that's if they run to form and a couple of those are showing very strong results on day one so may improve their day 2 results
Report sageform August 4, 2012 10:34 AM BST
So far, apart from Skyute, the big guns look below form.
Report judorick August 4, 2012 10:34 AM BST
Chernova 6.44m
Ennis 5.95m

approx 150 points between them on that
Report judorick August 4, 2012 10:41 AM BST
Ennis 1.29/1.30 now

I could get out for a small green (laid 1.25) but think I will see what happens, if she has a poor throw in the javelin it could go bigger

that was a very safe first jump so I presume she will for a big un on the second attempt
Report judorick August 4, 2012 11:03 AM BST
big jump from Ennis 6.40m

trading 1.14 now and looking nailed on, only disaster in the jav can stop her now

well done winners
Report ReaseHeath August 4, 2012 11:09 AM BST
was also hoping to trade out - gotta be impressed with Ennis though, prep clearly gone great, turned up in the shape of her life and delivering a career performance - should also not be forgotten she is a lightweight taking on cruiserweights.

Report judorick August 4, 2012 11:15 AM BST
hate to admit it but I have been scalping throughout so it's not too bad

happy to see her win though!
Report ReaseHeath August 4, 2012 11:30 AM BST
she must have a chance of 7,000 points depending how she wants to commit to 800m
Report elise August 4, 2012 11:30 AM BST
wonder if she will hit 15m pb after all the work with mick hill, i hope she makes it 2 lap celebration when they get to the 800m
Report BARNEY15C August 4, 2012 4:08 PM BST
What sort of gap in seconds does a 188pt lead equate to in the 800m - cheers?
Report shiraz August 4, 2012 4:20 PM BST
I think it works out at 14 points per second.
Report elise August 4, 2012 4:21 PM BST
