Each day I keep coming onto the Olympics 2012 section of the forum but there doesn't seem to be much banter on it. I think its because there's so many events on and noone knows who is watching or playing in what!

So thought I'd put up a daily thread and see if that works Laugh

My first Olympic bet of the day :

Tony Estanguet to win the Mens Canoe Slam @ 3.2

probably got suckered into a short price on this as not much liquidity but he was impressive enough in the qualifiers to tempt me in Laugh

What are you lot betting on?

Just a bit! Not going to be any heroics like the women in the volleyball last night.

Well done Michael Jung of germany in the eventing .  Now World , European , and Olympic champion , some performance from horse and rider .  Unlucky for the Swedish girl , nicked the last fence .

GB really seem to be under performing, only the mens gymnasts have stepped up and exceeded expectations

florence in c1 totally bombed for instance

fortunately as I said on several threads, I have backed all the unders that I could get on (24.4, 23.5, 26.5 golds)

but I still want them all to do their best if you see what I mean

I wasnt expecting much from the first few days anyway. Tomorrow is when the golds start flying in, and we'll barely have a day without one after that.

anyone noticed the paedo in the women's gymnastics who keeps trying to touch the girls when they're swinging around, but who keeps bottling it at the last moment and moving his hand away?

yes but I was expecting EVERYONE to step up produce their best effort whether that produces a medal or not

unfortunately many have seemed overwhelmed or just not on their game

the rowers have looked brilliant so far. nearly every boat in with a chance has performed up to standard or above expectations

yes rowing has been our best chance of medals for several games now

but it's mainly the swimming that has been sub par so far. it's the most high profile sport of the early days.

it's not a sport in which we do or should expect to win many medals. how many times games after games do you hear the pundits say so and so has a decent chance of a medal and often get nowehere near

yes that's true

I was just talking about the prospect of a 'home games' factor. No evidence that Team GB is experiencing an across the board boost in performance based on results so far. In fact many are failing short of expectation
