Where did you get Daley favourite?

Roger bannister and Redgrave are the favourites as far as I can see.

The Queen is also pretty low odds.

Ladbrokes giving generous odds on Queen and on Beckham compared to the other 2 firms offering this market.

Beckham hasn't a hope in hell.  I will be disappointed if it is Bannister.

I have it on good authority (my aunties' neighbour is Danny Boyle's dog groomer) that the queen will fire a flaming arrow while flying from a jetpack having been fired by catapult from the top of The Orbit. Shhhhhhh

Somebody who has done something at the Olympics like a Redgrave or Thompson but would like it a lot if it was somebody really unexpected.

Bannister seems to have only entered the betting this week. That detail could prove crucial. Again, another betting option that shouldn't be there as only some know who it is and they can benefit from it.

I think it should be Redgrave but I'm sure they have some surprise lined up. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they rope one of the Royals in to do something or they get all PC and have some unknown black kid from the area do it

This Bannister thing… I was told 2 or 3 months ago it was a done deal it would be Bannister. PP were only ones offering price back then on Bannister and he was smashed into odds on, then they withdrew the market.
Only in last week or so has market re-opened. A WH spokesman claimed WH were offering 33s a week or so ago Bannister. If this is true I missed it. Only saw when Bannister was 6s with WH.
Reckon it'll likely be some convoluted 'collective' - with dead-heat rules applying.

Sir Roger Bannister crossed a very significant barier with the 4 minute mile but he never won the Olympics so Daley Thompson or Redgrave would be better. Seb Coe has been more significant in getting the games than anyone and he is a double Olympic champion, world record breaker and member of the IOC. Should be odds on surely.

Bannister is a false favourite, shirley.  Not a great Olympian was he?  4th in 1952.

It's a pity there isn't an 'Any Other' selection as I think it will be a surprise/unknown.

I don't think it will be Seb Coe, would almost be a Dennis Waterman moment...I wrote the theme tune, sang the theme tune....etc.

Can't see a Royal doing it either, they have had enough of the spotlight of late.

It ought to be Daley but I think it will be Sir Steve. It can't be Bannister. 4th in an Olympics. It would be like admitting we're rubbish before it even starts!

I hope it's someone like Bannister or Derek Redmond

Someone who embraced tarnished, outmoded sporting values.

It would certainly send out the message that 'This is Britain. We're doing it differently and if you want serried ranks of mindless peons banging drums in unison, backed by a fireworks display that looks like the Somme, then stick Beijing 2008 on You Tube'

Poor that bf haven't put a market up which leaves us either without a bet or at the mercy of the high street.

I would suggest that the reason BF haven't put up a market is that it is rife for insider trading. Not worth the hassle.

I had a tip from a friend that has a limo business
A car picked up Roger Bannister and took him to a Central London Hotel in the week but no more info than that

I have had a little bet based on that but no 33/1

I managed to get half a dozen 20 quid bets on from 20/1 into 5/1 for a bit of fun

I have never landed one of these types of bets other than M O'Neil being first Prem manager out when I had a tip from someone who knew him

Bit of fun but I can't see past Redgrave and he deserves it as Bannister didn't break the 4 m in mile in the Olympics

Redgrave on TV now waving his phone saying its not too late to call, could be a fake
