I dont think it is the type of incident for which it particularly matters, unless he has a whole load of charges for peeing on symbols Grin

well he might be on license, last chance saloon etc. A history of not paying fines & landing in pokey anyway? Serving a suspended sentence, lots of reasons why they could jail him. Of course this could also be his 1st offence. I'd like to know myself

Don't see any point in any 2 week sentence meself.

Fine him, get him doing some community service, maybe cleaning up his mess.

my good lady has just informed me that he could have received 6 months. This would suggest his rap sheet is not that bad

Two years for bacon throwing in the UK aaronh. The grey hoodie guy won't get that even if they bother looking for him. Punish some people, let others go free.

On its  own, a custodial sentence is not justified imo. Fine would have sufficed.

Banks, a Tottenham Hotspur fan, was said to have mental health problems, the court heard. Explains a few things.

A total of 113 people were arrested and the protest was condemned by Boris Johnson as “racist thuggery” and described as “mindless hooliganism” by police.

No criminal record. This seems to be a case of making an example.

If it had been a BLM protester doing exactly the same thing I can't help but think that most of the comments above would have been oh so different.

Not at all Charlie. NOBODY, especially with no criminal record should be receiving a jail sentence for this.

I'll accept your stance but just look at any of the numerous posts about BLM and you'll find that the above posters (it's normally the same ones) have an entirely different attitude then.

Boris calling it ‘racist thuggery’ confirms what a liberal ignorant buffoon he is.

Where was the racism? Anger at the Met for not doing their job and fury at scum who would deface Churchill and the Cenotaph.

Like all lefties, Boris brings skin colour into it to tarnish patriots who give a damn.

Why do you think it is "KHAN LABOUR JUSTICE"?

It is the same rationale as the London riots a couple of years back saw people getting six months for looting bottles of water. It's not that he watered a monument but that he was there as part of a mass protest.

Pink Floyd's Ian Gilmour's son got more than a year from swinging from the Cenotaph iirc.

when you compare the girl this week who stabbed a girl in the back twice after beating her up ,and got no jail time ,its an extremely harsh sentence ,he must have grounds for appeal especially as there are no public toilets open or cafes, pubs to use facilities. Not defending the guy but a community service order or fine would suffice.

Clearly not guilty of what he was charged with, there's photographic evidence! How long should someone get for being a drunken idiot. Not many people in their 20s have not done something regrettable under the influence of alcohol.
