Police chiefs have accused Priti Patel of “absolutely disgraceful” interference after she demanded a clampdown on Black Lives Matter protests.

One chief constable said that the home secretary’s call amounted to a “chilling abuse of power” amid concerns that the anti-racism demonstrations have badly damaged relations between Tories and police.

Others have complained of pressure from Conservative MPs to give a “show of force” at BLM protests around the UK this weekend, saying it amounts to political interference in policing.

Chief constables want an easy ride to a knighthood. Doing anything physical against BAME people could scupper that. They'd rather the officers on the ground run away from BLM.

I thought it was quite common for the police to take govt advice on police strategy.

She is the Home Secretary ,who will be held account for any public disorder or inappropriate police action ,surely she is allowed to speak on such issues ,would be plenty criticism if she kept quiet when all this nonsense is going on.

She will have been briefed by her friends in Mossad no doubt.

No show of force in Brighton yesterday where thousands gathered illegally with seemingly no action from the police.

Why would Mossad brief her about a BLM protest in London?

As a distant observer using the media pictures as a guide I cannot see how and why the behaviour of the police at the BLM march could have been deemed heavy handed. If I was Ms Patel or the son of a former bus driver who's in charge of London I'd have used a water cannon or hoses from the fire engines to drench any protester doing more than just peaceful demonstrating their right to protest eg damaging or destroying statues, public vandalism, looting, etc.

Also, I'd fine these law breakers breaking for not social distancing and imprisoning them.

Ironic how its the supercilious types on the forum that always have disparaging 'nicknames' for those who they disagree with politically.
