So the government, police, mayor or whoever is currently in charge has decided it is fine for people to illegally gather in groups over 6 people to protest until 5pm?

In the mean time the rest of us are not allowed to gather in groups bigger than 6 and must social distance between families. Cannot have Church services, parties or go to funerals above a fixed number etc.

Instead of the government, police and mayor politely asking people not to protest why not issue fines to everyone who gathers?

You worried about the virus spreading now?

Or is it more that you're concerned about certain people being above the rules which everyone else is following?

Social distancing is either required or it is not required PP.

I doubt the virus knows what time of day it is or whether it is funeral as opposed to 'just' protest.

Absolutely absurd the police are allowing this. A handful of them trying to stop people climbing over barriers.

It is almost like they want there to be confrontation today.

Indeed. I can feel your anger. I can only assume you've created similar threads about young people 'just' going to the beach or 'just' driving to the other end of the country when told to stay at home.

Agree with this to be fair.

Authorities are desperate for more confrontations to deflect attention from the death toll, 20% economic drop etc. Every day Johnson gets people to blame each other, then the closer he is to getting away with it.

Is the beach the same thing?

This is people from BLM and now football supporters types to get together in mass groups and confront the police.

Its madness.

Even the Police do not bother with masks or social distancing. Chatting with the 'protestors' like it is a day out.

It's all relative IT.
If you are a child then Corona is low risk, therefore childish people on BLM rallies (and the trolls on here) are of low risk.
If you are BAME then the risk of dying of Corona is higher, so it makes SENSE to congregate with other people in large groups.
It all makes sense!

The right to peaceful protest is great.

If plod seeks to prevent yobs hijacking the peaceful protest then that's great

"Right to go to funerals and weddings is great also."

The remake
"Four weddings and a funeral : LOCKDOWN" would save a lot of location costs AND we wouldn't have to put up with Hugh Grant.

I love COVID :)

So you approve of these 'protests' by the football lads today despite the rules on social distancing and gatherings?

The statues are all secured so why are they there?

Yes, going to the beach is pretty much the same thing in terms of the virus. If people are allowed to frolic in the sea then - in a democratic country - they should be allowed to protest peacefully. The end.

Should they be allowed to ignore laws on gathering sizes and social distancing in order to 'protest' whilst others who ignore these laws are fined for doing for it?

The law suggests they are allowed to protest peacefully

You could fund a test case but my advice to you would be don't waste your money
As the right to peaceful protest would trump any law which has been ridiculed

As usual, an obviously stupid an incorrect remark.

Please explain why someone swimming in the sea distant from anyone is the same virus risk as someone on a march walking along shouting "blah blah blah", given the known fact that it's an airborne virus carried in water particles coming out of people's mouths.

I know you are left and dense and a troll but please, explain.

If the laws aren't enforced at the beach or for virus-filled cars crossing the country then I see no reason why you should suddenly decide to enforce them now.

Otherwise it's one rule for one group and another for someone else, which obviously this government couldn't possibly condone.

Have you seen the beach pictures? Crowded beaches, lots of booze drunk, lots of kiss running around.

Are you being deliberately thick or have you just got your knickers in a twist about people not sharing your views on racism?
