His statue at Bannockburn was covered in grafitti today.
Calling him a racist.
Obviously just tit for tat but we can expect more of this.
Nelson Mandela next? Or maybe Kenny Mann toppling the statue of cat hating Greyfriars Bobby?

Top Geezer

After being defeated at a battle, Bruce escaped and found a hideout in a cave. Hiding in a cave for three months, Bruce was at the lowest point of his life. He thought about leaving the country and never coming back.

While waiting, he watched a spider building a web in the cave's entrance. The spider fell down time after time, but finally he succeeded with his web. So Bruce decided also to retry his fight and told his men: "If at first you don't succeed, try try and try again".

Offensive appropriation of spider culture. He's also spiderist.

The Bruce is an interesting character, probably a thief and certainly a murderer when it came
to removing his rival for the crown. Some historians think he might actually have been an essex
lad ! He got lucky when Edward the second became the English king, edward was a poor leader and
famously came a cropper via a red hot poker.Robert is probably the most famous person to die of
leprosy.

Robert The Bruce fought on the side of the English in his early days but we'll forget that.

What is racist about Robert the Bruce....freed Scotland from the English with his victory at Bannockburn

with an inferior force

I would suspect there no black slaves in either England or Scotland at that time?

I see Akabula

Although one could argue homophobia may have been about, an accusation levelled at Edward 11 by his wife!

I hope Edward 11 did not suffer the death Shakespeare thought up for him

He was born ages ago, had old fashioned thoughts and was nationalstic and French, surely must've been in Le Front National at the very least? Wink

I saw this trending on twitter earlier and needless to say the conspiracy nuts in the nationalist movement were blaming this on "right wing unionists" trying to discredit the left. Based on zero evidence, as usual for an SNP belief system :)

The Broons - even the name is just Scottish accented racism as it refers to their Jamaican neighbours!

Would be fascinating to know the real reason and real motive of the person who graffiti'd the Bruce Statue

unlikely to have been done by an actual genuine BLM supporter I'd guess. (but don't know)

Somebody who likes vandalism, or is there more to it.

Robert Bruce, 1274-1329 well before slavery, no links to anything relative to BLM.

Vandal ? or agent provocateur?

what ever, they done a good job for the anti BLM

You put a quite about amount of faith in the intellect and logical ability of spraycan wielding BLM activists...

If you heard one thier leaders today on talk radio, that might be shattered.

you've decided already haven't you?

I've learnt that not everything is as it seems on the surface.

bruce before slavery? slavery has been around for millennia. it only ended when the british decided it waa a bad thing. thousands of years of oppression stopped unilaterally by one country only. but evryone else carried on with it. the ottoman empire was the greatest slave state of all, by miles, but i suspect they will not be torching turkey. turkish plod wont take a knee, unless it belongs to someone else. and the frogs better destroy every bust and statue of napoleon, all 10,000 of em. id like to see the reaction to that.

there are more slaves in africa now than were ever bought from africans by british traders. those black lives worth nothing. and the far greater arab slave trade is never mentioned.

only the atlantic slave trade is a bad thing. the one that existed long before and after we abolished it is blameless. funny old world.

Very well said grappler,

waffling on about "the ottomans",  "Turkish Plod" "The frogs", "napoleon" on a thread about graffiti on a Robert Bruce statue.

Your focus and ability to crystallise the pertinent points into a nutshell is fantastic.

grappler in 2020 you can summarise pretty much everything with the short sentence:
"In the event of anything bad, it's always white males who are in the wrong".
It's not really an exageration is it Sad.

There is a map circulating at the moment that is colour coded as to slavery levels.

Here you go:
https://www.globalslaveryindex.org/2018/data/maps/#prevalence

Look at that map. Why the **** are all these warriors against slavery complaining about men who lived 300 years ago and not THAT?

Same reason as they'll march until their feet bleed about Trump the misogynst but not raise a whisper about horrific treatment of women across the same countries.

Virtue signalling hypocrites.

In Penny Lane, there is a barber showing photographs
Of every head he's had the pleasure to know
And all the people that come and go
Stop and say, "Hello"
