Presenters pronouncing 'o' sounds as a 'u' sound.

Frum
Everybuddy...

Several on LBC doing it.  James O'Brien is the worst offender but many of the newsreaders and reporters are also guilty.

Have they all been on the same course or have the same voice coach?

It's driving me nuts!

As for the Black British.. whats the story of them substituting axe in place of the word ask all the fcukin time. Its tedious. I believe its cool..in their minds at least

From my perspective, it seemed to start with black youngsters but is also common with whites and Asians.

However, I googled this and it actually dates back hundreds of years to Old English!

How about the useage of free instead of the number 3..? Is that old English too?

People (especially Londoners) have spoken like that as far back as I can remember.

It's several years since I lost the ability to hear voices, but I read the subtitles on reality TV shows, and I wonder what on Earth has happened.

"I was like, What! And she was like, Oh my God! And I was like, What's up!"

Just how did the verb "to be like" come to replace the verb "to say"? And when?

My hearing's fine but I still put the subtitles on for anything set north of the Watford Gap.

I have a similar problem. I can hear the speech but need the subtitles for full comprehension.
(especially for anyone north of Carlisle).

They struggle, but you do have to give the bonny little troupers credit for trying.
