Good honest folk treated in a dreadful manner because we were told a computer system couldn't be wrong.
There really should be plenty of humility from those who could not see their mistakes.
Common sense should have spotted the pattern long ago.

I think there have been a couple of panorama investigations into this corruption and i actually felt they did a good job looking into it. I just wished they had shown the same level of diligence when looking into other life changing events. I suppose they were given the green light on this one.

As usual with corporate scandals, the people who deserve to have their entire assets seized for gross incompetence at best and malicious negligence at worst, saunter on carefreely through life without even being outed as the c--ts they are.

i actually know one who was jailed, poor man, Tim Parker, the Post Office chairman, said: "We accept that, in the past, we got things wrong in our dealings with a number of postmasters and we look forward to moving ahead now, with our new chief executive currently leading a major overhaul of our engagement and relationship with postmasters."

In October 2015,[9] Parker was appointed as Chairman of Post Office Limited. Parker took over part way through a scandal where over 1,000[10] subpostmasters were accused of false accounting when the Horizon accounting software showed a shortfall. When the subpostmasters sued the Post Office, under Parker's chairmanship, the Post Office refused to admit there were any problems[11] and accused the judge of bias.[11] The founder of Justice for Subpostmasters claimed the Post Office was desperate to defend "a board and executive which seems totally out of control and being allowed to run riot by its sole shareholder, the government."[12] The Post Office later settled.[13]

My mam knew lady in Newcastle that suffered because of it.
I only found out much later that mam knew her.
It really is staggering what the post office did, and how many more people made up the shortfall with their own money because of bug in system
Guess we never find out?

.@scullyp answered an urgent question on sub-postmasters wrongly convicted in the Post Office Horizon scandal. He said "the Government is committed to establishing an independent review", @ChiOnwurah argued that it should be a "judge-led inquiry".
10 June 2020 Chi Onwurah asked an urgent question to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Business, Paul Scully on steps the Government is taking to support sub-postmasters wrongly convicted in the Post Office Horizon scandal.
Last year 550 claimants brought group legal action over the Post Office's Horizon computer system.
The system contained software defects causing deficiency in the subpostmaster's branch accounts for several years.
This lead to sub-postmasters being accused of false accounting and theft, some being made bankrupt, while others prosecuted and jailed.
Paul Scully: "it's impossible to ignore the negative impact that the Horizon dispute and court case has had" Paul Scully, Parliamentary Under-Secretary said "it's impossible to ignore the negative impact that the Horizon dispute and court case has had on effective postmasters' lives, their livelihoods, their financial situation, their reputations and for some, their physical and mental health".
Mr Scully said:
"Convicted claimants seeking to have their conviction overturned are going through a further process with the Criminal Case Review Commission (CCRC), who have the power to refer cases to the Court of Appeal to consider where any convictions are unsafe.
"As you'll appreciate it's important that the Government does not seek to influence this process or comment on any individual cases there".
He said that the Post Office are "cooperating" with the CCRC "to the fullest extent" and the Government is monitoring the process.
47 out of the 61 CCRC cases have been referred to the Court of Appeal and its up to the court to decide whether the convictions are unsafe, says Paul Scully.
He went on to say that the Government:
"is committed to establishing an independent review to consider whether the Post Office has learnt the necessary lessons from the Horizon dispute and court cases and to provide an independent and external assessment of its work to rebuild its relationship with its postmasters".
Chi Onwurah: "We need answers, not more delay" Chi Onwurah responded to the statement. She said that the Horizon scandal "may be the largest miscarriage of justice in our history" with 900 prosecutions.
She said "innocent people" have been "bankrupted and imprisoned".
She asked whether Paul Scully agreed that Monday's Panorama programme adds to the sense of a 'cover up' on a grand scale and that "there can be no justice without truth".
Chi said that the Government's review will only focus on lessons learnt by the Post Office. She said "we need an inquiry not simply to learn lessons but to get to the truth".
She suggested a "judge-led inquiry", because "it is the very least the victims deserve", with the Post Office "compelled to cooperate".
She concluded:
"We need answers, not more delay.
"We will not rest until we get this [judge-led inquiry] and justice for all those wronged in this scandal

im using computer system at work, i input payments etc and im scared stiff of it, one click of a certain button could easily delete payments paid or owned etc, im quite thorough and i double check/ treble check and have found errors, so most people just doing it without double checking would have made errors( not their faults), i honestly would prefer the old ways of pencil and paper, but now everything has to go through the proper system. ive told the boss dont blame me if a lot of money goes missing

The rich get richer. I heard recently we have just finished paying off the debt Parliament incurred as a result of paying out compensation to Slave owners after slavery was abolished.
I think a Lord may get paid up to £305 a day to sign in at the Palace of Westminster. Your man was offered £3,000 compensation for being jailed.
We are still fighting ourselves because a Policeman murdered a man in America.
Our enemy is not our neighbour

The rich slave owners were compensated by the tax payer the equivalent of millions of pounds in today’s money. it Can be checked on the 8nternet.
My point is Elis we are all fighting amongst ourselves since the cop murdered the retired armed robber.
The people who own this country do not care about us. They send their sons to the best schools and they make the laws to defend their interests not ours.
Blacks lives matter misses the point. We all matter and are all being exploited by the rich and privileged. Call me a socialist, call me Jesus but if one of us made a mistake that resulted in innocent people going to jail, do you think we would get away with it. Would the laws say sorry, computer error? I think not.

I asked them to make it available, so the next time some muppet at work says "Do we really need to test that?" I'll just hand them the article!
The number of lives ruined by this is scandalous; the PO & Fujitsu forgot a fundamental rule of computing: s*** in = s*** out
