The lagging number for the UK of reported COVID related deaths is now up to 48,359.
England 41,605 + Wales 2,089 up to 21 May + Scotland 3,911 up to 31 May + Northern Ireland 754 up to 29 May.

There was a report issued today by the ONS that reviewed the high numbers of non-COVID excess deaths since the middle of March.
Highly likely that there will be questions about that report at today's press briefing.

The ONS also reported that the number of new daily infections in England continues to fall, dropping to 5,600 per day from the previously reported 8,000.
