Bill Gates warns anti-vaxxers could stop Covid-19 jab working if they refuse to have it as Oxford University's experimental jab will now be tested in Brazil because Britain's outbreak is slowing

Bill Gates today warned anti-vaxxers could wreck attempts to develop a Covid-19 vaccine if they refuse to take it and reduce the level of herd immunity.

Over 80 per cent of people may need to have the jab for it to work properly - but he feared anti-vaccine 'craziness' might put people off getting it.

The billionaire founder of Microsoft, who now donates hundreds of millions of dollars to global health causes, said the prospect was 'worrying'.

Vaccines can only be successful at stamping out a virus if so many people get them that a vast majority of the population is immune and the disease can no longer spread.

Mr Gates's comments come as vaccine trials on humans are in full swing in the UK and the University of Oxford has announced it will test its candidate in Brazil now.

Falling levels of the virus circulating in Britain, where the outbreak is fading, means it will be increasingly difficult to test the vaccine because there is nothing to test it against.

In Brazil, however, Covid-19 cases are still rising rapidly and its outbreak is second only to the US, with 555,000 confirmed diagnoses.

Interesting that as the virus fizzles out Gates presses on.

We now have Boris committing to the big pharma agenda as well.

Strange times - will the left support the individual's right to choose or Boris?

There has been no vaccine to combat Sars, Mers and the myriad of other Coronaviruses so why should Covid19 be any different?

I'd hazard a guess there'll be no vaccine against this latest kid on the block either.

Most likely it will reap its harvest and be gone like the others in 24 months.

Time will tell it's true.

fizzling out?

How many new cases were reported worldwide today?

The new right wing is wrong about almost everything.

I know that in a few days, the four countries with the most cases of the virus will be countries run by new right wingers, trump, pootin, bolonsaro and johnson, so I imagine that any additional transmission will be negligible.

Definition of a vaccine. A preventative treatment incorporating the virus, dead or alive in weakened state, to strengthen the immune responee. Not a treatment or cure.

Bbasically we needed the vaccine six months ago. The virus has infected most of us already. I have no use for it. I have had sysymptoms for months. Don't need s faulty test, to know that. Everyone in my family got it. Weak or strong.
If you ducked into a bomb shelter six months ago you will need the vvaccine.
Focus on the next virus... Ebola? Or black death?

Important word... Preventitive
