"The fact police were on Brueckner’s case so soon after Madeleine’s disappearance will raise further questions about the initial handling of the probe."
Sorry Clarence no - it raises questions about why this has been dragged up again years later.

This is really troubling me. I can't stop thinking about it. This should have been rigorously followed up but doesn't appear to have been. This is not normal.

this has just been put up by Sky "Sky New understands the man came back into the frame in 2017 as a result of an alleged confession.
He was in a bar in Germany with another man, around the tenth anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance. A report came on the TV about the anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance and he said something to suggest that he knew what happened.
He also allegedly showed a video of himself raping a woman. Video of the rape led to an investigation that last year meant he was convicted of the rape of a tourist on the Algarve in around 2005 - bringing him back into the frame"
so the 'tip-off' was 3 feckin years ago?

none of Madeleines dna found in either the camper van or Jag. Another story pops up: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8399713/Pictured-teenage-girlfriend-Maddie-McCann-suspect-used-beat-help-solve-mystery.html
'This individual was already investigated around four years ago.'
Insisting the aim of German police revelations about the man, now identified as the prime Madeleine McCann suspect, was simply to put the case back into the public eye, ABC quoted the veteran PJ boss as saying: 'At this stage of the investigation, I think they've done it because they think it's needed to shake up the case and attract new witnesses.
'They work very closely with Portugal and now they've wanted to turn this case around.
'They're not looking to solve it now, because that's very difficult. What they're looking to do is agitate the waters.'
The Portuguese know the score

British plod, and Portuguese plod called in left floundering whilst German plod trying to see what this guy might be guilty of.
Not sure it serves any of them wellPublic want more info that law allows, perhapsBritish plod, and Portuguese plod called in left flounderingwhilst German plod trying to see what this guy might be guilty of.
They aren't trying to solve the case it's all about media coverage whilst sticking to the original impossible story. The Germans are trying to clear their cold cases, more media coverage leads to public pressure and it's likely more can be pinned on this one guy.

It's not actually a bad article that. Was expecting sh1te from mirror.
I think Germans must be frantic trying to hold him, and all this stuff is feeding his defense team more and more reasons to let him out.
Let them get on with it, for now.
Other plods covering their backs incase he's guilty.

pretty distasteful stuff from the German prosecutor - seems like they've been using Maddie's name to get themselves (or, to give them to benefit of the doubt, their cases) into the headlines,

They say they have concrete proof that she's dead. So seemingly they have enough evidence to make that claim. But not enough ( DNA)? to charge the prime suspect. And any details of proof cannot be shared, for fear of compromising the case.

German plod has some evidence, but not yet quite enough to charge their suspect.
When they charge him they have to confront him with the evidence they have
He will then be able to create a defence to the evidence, so they dont Want to tell him what it is just yet.
In the meantime if he was to mention the evidence it would hamper his chance of creating a defence to it.
An unrelated case....
Ian Huntley denies murder Mr Huntley is into a second day of questioning Ian Huntley "invented" a defence to fit the facts, the prosecution lawyer at his murder trial has said. Richard Latham QC, cross-examining Mr Huntley, described him as "devious" and a liar who "planned" a defence once he knew of the prosecution case.
Mr Huntley, 29, said he did tell lies but at the time "genuinely believed" he had done nothing wrong.

For my reading between the lines it appears the 'evidence' is most likely someone said that CB said that Madeleine is dead.
The only evidence that would be of any use is physical evidence that Madeleine was in one of his vehicles. Hard to see how the Germans got hold of that without close co-operation with UK/Portugal cops but the latter indicate that the Germans are coming up with this theory on their own.
