Hundreds of people were at an unlicensed East London party last night in Clapton breaching lockdown rules. Police were called to Springfield Estate in Clapton East London at about 21:30 where a large number of people had gathered.

What a bunch of irresponsible and selfish scumbags?

as far as many are concerned restrictions are over ... its summer and its warm and people have complied for nearly 3 months so time to enjoy yourselves ... no turning back now and if the gov't attempt another lockdown then it certainly will not be successful
lets hope we don't get another major outbreak; we have no cure and  track & trace is merely superficial to paper over the cracks

Indeed its over now. Perhaps instead of insulting people who have decided to get back to enjoying life you should be grateful that so many put up with their freedoms being removed for so long. All in all most behaved better and for much longer than i expected them to.

Staying alive in exchange for a period of restriction on freedom is a no-brainer any time, any day. And, the NHS workers who did not make it did not have the choice either.

Freedom was not removed. It was reduced and managed to try and save lives, and not over burden the NHS. And, it was not UK specific, other countries had it even worse, if one could put one's politics aside.

It seemed to happen in East London more than elsewhere. Remember that "sunny" day where East Londoners congregated in a park having picnics? One group was actually having a game of football totally ignoring social distancing.

It depends on the period of time you are asking people to sacrifice and your wrong about suggesting it is to stay alive. Most people have NOTHING to fear about from this virus so they are making the sacrifice for the benefit of others. Its reasonable to expect most to be prepared to do this for a short time but there is a limit to it and im guessing many have now reached theirs. I certainly have.

I hope you're speaking for yourself. Some I know are questioning why when the R number is still just below 1, one or two areas more cases detected and still between category 4 and 3 (not 3) as stipulated by government when the next phase of easing of lockdown would be.

This is a political decision by the government, and I believe not shared by quite a number of scientists in SAGE. But, does that mean I'll be feeling more at ease when going to the supermarkets or a place where the public congregate? Absolutely not.

Governments can only continue with lockdown when they have support of nearly all of the Public. The easing only reflects what a lot were already doing. The parks have been getting busier and busier the last couple of weeks as more and more people decided they had had enough. How long did you think the 90% that this virus is no threat to would stay at home giving up all they enjoy. It was always going to be time limited.
If we listened to scientists we would stay locked down im sure but they dont take into account either economic or personal behaviour. I reiterate what ive said before in that the young especially should be applauded with their patience.
