R rate too near 1, too many new cases each day,no ability yet to track and trace.

i would be in 54% as well

No doubt many of those 54% will be found lounging on our crowded beaches this weekend.

the 1951 experiment worked too well; which has led to this backtracking. Watch out for bright lights!!!
Report darren_discombobulates_sports May 30, 2020 10:27 AM BST
How are they recording deaths in all of those other countries, in the UK it's including everyone who had tested positive rather than it being the direct cause of death.

I'm not sure also in all of those other countries workers are being furloughed as they are here, if you're being furloughed on 80% I'd imagine you would say lockdown is happening to quick.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 30, 2020 11:37 AM BST
They ain't testing everybody that has died with corona symptoms

That in itself is shocking and a snapshot of this corrupt government
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 30, 2020 11:40 AM BST
Lots of other countries don't need furlough as their leaders didn't
spread the virus by stupidly shaking hands with victims and
then spreading the virus around N E England giving wife a birthday

Report CLYDEBANK29 May 30, 2020 1:27 PM BST
The public is not in a position to know at all whether they are going too fast or too slow.  The government is.

If the public are cautious, that's more reason for unlocking lockdown
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 30, 2020 1:30 PM BST
The public is, the government is not

Scientists confirm

More delicious irony on this corrupt inept government

Must have been a lot of Hand Shaking north of the Border Donny Horrific death rate up there, a long way ahead of the English Figures

Whats gone wrong with Their Great Governments handling of the Virus , and be thankful they are only in charge of 5 million people ..

2 nd Highest permillion world wide ,Over twice the Rate of the USA , but shall we just ignore that because we like the Mugs running

the Show ??
Report casemoney May 30, 2020 1:47 PM BST
And them figures without another 1000 plus excess deaths being labelled , I doubt they ewere down to Road Traffic accidents ?

The woman running the Abacus doesnt sleep too well and has previous problems with her figures ..............

Never thought north east would be so badly hit case

No good reason for that either
Report CLYDEBANK29 May 30, 2020 1:56 PM BST
Far fewer BAME in Scotland.  So the death rate should be lower if we believe that BAME's have a higher death rate
Report CLYDEBANK29 May 30, 2020 1:57 PM BST
Far fewer BAME in the North East too
Report CLYDEBANK29 May 30, 2020 1:59 PM BST
It's colder.  Maybe that's a factor?  Maybe it's diet related?  Higher obesity levels in the north
Report differentdrum May 30, 2020 2:24 PM BST
And of course the 13% are probably a danger to 54%.

Is there a breakdown of the the 13% by age? You would suspect it is mostly the bracket relatively untouched the virus. The 'i'm alright jacks'.

People keep comparing the present crisis with the 2nd World War, well I wouldn't fancy our chances with all the indiscipline that we are now experiencing. They would be complaining on here about observing the blackout and probably any other inconveniences.
Report Ibrahima Sonko May 30, 2020 2:35 PM BST
that 54% probably want to destroy the government as well.
Report differentdrum May 30, 2020 2:38 PM BST
That wouldn't be such a bad thing, but I suspect they are just doing all they can to stay alive.
Report impossible123 May 30, 2020 2:46 PM BST
The other 87% think the government are too quick easing lockdown; they also think the government were too slow exercising lockdown on foreign travellers into the country in late Feb and early March.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 30, 2020 2:49 PM BST
Government is incapable so destroying it would be pointless

"The other 87% think the government are too quick easing lockdown; "
No they don't. The very first line of the very first post says what the realy figure is. It's not a binary question.

Given the quite scary level of ignorance in that poll it just shows how successfully the populace has been beaten into a cowering ignorant fearful mob.

The "probabilty that if I get Corona I'll need to go to hospital by age" is quite shockingly wrong for anyone who doesn't have a bus pass.

If the government is undecided then it goes with the public.  It often goes with the public even if it doesn't agree out of political motives.  That it's ignoring the public here, I'd be very confident that it's doing the right thing.
Report CLYDEBANK29 May 30, 2020 3:49 PM BST
Also with the general malaise and fear about lifting lockdown, without any thought of what continued lockdown will mean, pushing anti lockdown measures is a good thing
Report Dotchinite May 30, 2020 6:28 PM BST
What a cowardly nation we have become. Mind you its probably as much about being sat at home on full pay as anything else. Cut off the money and a lot will have to face up to reality.
Report UBLE/REGY May 30, 2020 6:50 PM BST
I am with the 13%

I would not have had a lockdown in the first place
Report Just Checking May 30, 2020 7:17 PM BST
There had to be something in between "do nothing" and "house arrest without an ankle bracelet and people narking on their neighbours like East Germany". If the Tories hadn't done a lockdown the hysterical media and haters out to get them would have been worse than they are now, if that's possible. That's sadly the way it is.
