Douglas Ross MP
@Douglas4Moray

I haven't commented publicly on the situation with Dominic Cummings as I have waited to hear the full details. I welcome the statement to clarify matters, but there remains aspects of the explanation which I have trouble with. As a result I have resigned as a government Minister.

In the first round of voting, Moray's MP voted for Mark Harper. However, he was one of only ten (3.2% of MPs) to do so as Mr Harper was eliminated from the contest with the second least amount of votes out of all ten competitors.

This has left Mr Ross weighing up his options, but he has now made his intentions clear.

He said: "Later today I'll vote in the second round of the Leadership Election. Since the first round result I've spoken with many of the candidates and decided, with the breadth of support they have across the party and their vision for the future of our country, today I will @BackBoris."

^

He backed Boris once it became clear he would win.

Yes, good for him, but unfortunately, very few people will know who he is.

The Cabinet stooges will continue to support the indefensible no matter how stupid they appear.

The idea that yesterday's conference would have exonerated him is laughable. How dumb do they think the general public are?

The whole handling of the crisis has been nothing short of a disaster and this is the icing on the cake of incompetence. Come to think of it the fact that this shower were voted in does make you wonder about the general public.

Boris ideology is free market and giving people the freedom to make their own choices.

Admittedly he through some of that out of the window when he went against his instincts in March and trashed the economy through his pointless lockdown of young healthy people.

Cummings only regret yesterday was that he didn't clarify events earlier.
He was given such an opportunity by The Guardian and the Mirror prior to their story being published, but declined to provide any such clarification.

Even after they published, the Barnard Castle trip was refuted, only to subsequently be confirmed as true.

Cake and eat it all over again.

What absolute nonsense. My position has been against locking up young fit people from very early on as you well know.

the centre and libs had this opportunity and turned it down, so any complaints about how horrible Boris and DC are can be ignored by them

That's a bold step from Douglas Ross. Super marginal Con/SNP constituency, he did very well to hang on to his seat in the recent election.  I guess he had a look at the polling mentioned in this bbc report this morning where Nicola Sturgeon wins by a distance from Boris on handling of Covid and decided his constituents must come first.
