Multi million pound companies why have they not sorted their own PPE,months back  ,Why would anyone have waited for the Government to step in ??

On another Point the people running these places must surely have had plans for a Pandemic ??

Why would they need advice or anything else form another party ??

How many of the Homes are privately run ??

because the right wing loons up till 10 weeks ago called ppe  red tape, and after brexit it was all going on a bonfire with the quango,s,also right wing mantra isn't to spend money and prepare for something that might not happen, its the modern lean world of business no excess, zombie stock that's not making money, just in time supply chains means in normal times you can get you want within 24 hrs, till all the world wants it and there,s a shortage and the price rockets

flu,s not world wide at same time, you pop down to B n Q and buy a few boxes as required,or amazon and they arrive in 24 hrs, all government stocks were out of date due to stockpiling

Worked in a care home last week and the only health & safety precautions was told to wash my hands(unsupervised) then had a temperature gun pointed at my forehead. It was a 20 minute survey but still had to walk around most areas including some bedrooms with residents present.
In the Tv/communal area the female staff were lounging around watching Tv or just chatting with the residents. Some of the female staff members were cuddling, holding hands etc with some of the residents. Most of the residents have Alzheimers. I imagine the staff and residents get closer still come eating, bath or toilet time. I doubt PPE would make much difference in these kind of places.
At the end of the day the staff go home via train, bus or whatever mixing with whoever then maybe home to family members who have been mixing with whoever then back to work the next day.
Only way to prevent the virus is if the staff were locked in 24/7 which would never work and there would still need to be ‘outsiders’ making deliveries.

Plenty of masks available in February , These people look after the Vulnerable Was there no Plan in Place ??

The word pandemic you would imagine , Homes would have been Urgently locked down ?? Or do the mob running them

need someone to tell them that ?  Seems to me they would have trouble running a bath ...........

On the 12th of March Casemoney goverment advice was care homes are "unlikely to be infected".

Visiting was officially stopped on the 23rd of March.

Patients were sent back to free up hospital space into care homes UNTESTED.

Yesterday Hancock was waffling about throwing up "a protective ring", he promised immediate testing on the 15th of April, again the following week and i believe it is finally getting done.

Whoever owns the care homes is academic, they are Brish citizens.

It was very difficult to stop but could the whole thing have been done better?

PA  if the Government told you to put your head in an oven would you do it ??

Its these care peoples Business to look after the Elderley and Vulnerable ,you imagine someone would

have some expertise ?? Or do they just invest in buildings and get a few staff in ?? The whole car system

needs looking at ..

Why are they telling me to put my head in an oven?

That is sheet advice, same as the start of the pandemic advice on 12th of March of "unlikely to be infected"

If i lost my hair and my ears were singed i would be asking why did you tell me to stick my head in the oven and i would have a right because i took them on trust Wink.

CH 4 new on +1 at approx 8.10/15,they give quite a fair segment on care homes, worth a look.
