A little later, the 90's, but Tour de France coverage after school, Gazetta Football Italia and American Football coverage are particular highlights.

I think I only watched it for gratuitous female nudity.

The Tour De France coverage was second to none , and the NFL was much better in an hours highlights instead of 4 hours per game.

They had a lot of concerts on when the channel first started.

I remember wobbling home from the pub on a Saturday night to watch the excellent Who Dares Wins , with Rory McGrath , baldrick et al.

They also showed Cheers .Love

Channel 4 used to have a bush alert symbol in the corner of the screen - a red triangle.  Usually during some japanese film with subtitles.  The triangle was the wrong way round and black would have been better than red but you knew that at least 5 seconds of foreign nudity was guaranteed

After Dark

Possibly an unnecessary format these days, with Twitter providing the means for personalities to string themselves up without the need for an intermediary. But hypnotic live television nonetheless.

Mid to late 90s.

Eurotrash on a Friday night.  Finger in position on remote ready to change to BBC1 incase anyone walked in.  Joy that it was a Friday night and so the weekend was here.  Quite often disappointment when the only nudity was some fat Austrian's swinging díck.

Also, Gazzetta.  Not just the football; I have strong memories of James Richardson sitting outside a cafe, pointing out headlines in Italian newspapers.  Partly responsible for my interest in languages.

Nicholas van Hoogstraten telling Henry Kelly that he might have once attacked a rabbi with a hand grenade, but he'd never get involved with anything as distasteful as gambling. Although he did make an exception for Premium Bonds.
