It is interesting. I am opposed to the lockdown and its good to see other people also opposed to it, but you wouldnt find me at one of those protests as things stand.
For one, there doesnt seem to be much of a democratic mandate for the anti-lockdown position. But also liberty is a bit more ‘all or nothing’ than a lot of positions.
It isnt about being scared of getting a fine or a ticket from a copper - its the perceived signal from goverment that you have to do what they say or eventually a bunch of large men will force you into a van and hold you hostage in a cell. And if you believe in the extreme endgames of these laws, you have to believe in your own extreme reactions to the threat eg are you ready to go on hunger strike? You really have to shoot for the moon with liberty.
In that context, Delingpole hasnt even half-arsed it there, hes just a chav getting excited about arguing with a copper whos been given a rubbish job to do.
