Need to be careful with antigen v antibody reference here, think it's a Antibody test tbh.
By:
Apologies yes.
By:
Aye, good to see you back SE, were you ill m8?
By:
Cheers.
Back in March B&B. 2 weeks was back to normal Couldn't get a swab test tyhen they had just stopped them so will be interested in this antibody test to see if it was Covid. |
By:
government couldn't give a foook if these tests are useful, work or not ,they've already today floated the idea of immunity certs of the back of them, enticing people out in order to catch the virus and get a cert, herd immunity through the back door
By:
I know they are saying they aren't sure what immunity those with antibodies actually have but surely long odds on they have decent protection for a while at least.
But it needs banging out in the community as quick as possible as the estimates of infection have been so wildly different. |

By:
as posted elsewhere its a blood test taken in hospital, surgery by qualified nhs nurse then sent to a lab, done alongside current testing, and track and trace ,no chance of these been rolled in large numbers anytime soon,
wheres the home test, pin prick, result in 15 mins ,gone |
By:
You should get a test then if you have antibidies
retest every 6 months just to track antidody life Research could be vital if we don't get a vaccine |
By:
just watching my local news we,re now top of the pops, banging on about number of cases,R rate etc, been down to poor health, poor quality of life etc
WALOFS cant they read ,number one finding of todays ONS data is that your area, home, health, age has absolutely no bearing on your chances of catching the virus, all that comes in to play after you,ve caught it |
By:
I didn't realise it was a hospital job thought it was just a blood test you could get at GP surgery.
The prick tests haven't been reliable. |
By:
yeh gp surgery can do it.but its not the do it yourself so called game changer

So looks like a fairly big testing sample has been done, not saying what tests were used but suspect it must have been dual pcr/antibody testing and saying 1 in 400 has covid, about 150k in Eng, more to follow no doubt.
Yea striding keen to get one myself as pretty sure I had it last year, along with most of my family and friends and one needed hospital, pneumonia both lungs,a fit under 30 with zero medical probs, non smoker too. Of course maybe there was something else doing rounds but what I had was a flu like illness like no other I have ever had, sore throat, dry cough, bones sore, headache from hell hot and cold sweat, took a long time to get over it, also had a cardiac issue, palpation like. Had to stop smoking for nearly a week , missed a days fishing as well ![]() |

By:
if you are that concerned or curious pay for a test simple
By:
Glad you and your family/friend ok B&B.

By:
wedge is there a reliable test you can pay for?
By:
There is a test, but not so easy to administer, let me find an article about it written by a GP.

whats more simple than pricking your finger it costs 50 quid to find out
By:
It goes against the grain to shell out £100 (£160 if you add same-day delivery within the M25) for a private test of uncertain provenance, quality, reliability and significance. But I ordered one to road test it.

From what I've heard none of them prick tests have been endorsed as reliable to this point.
