There is a new economic reality coming down the track. Governments that are nimble and innovative will fair the best. The EU has never been this. Cumbersome and ineffective is the way of the EU.
Cross channel trade is at lowest ever point so dealing with the new tariffs is at its easiest point. As new businesses rise from the Corona ashes they will form with the new reality in mind. Our banks have already circumvented the passporting issue via EU subsidiaries, free from their clutches we can lower tax and regulation for them so as they report most profits here.
New laws, rules and regulations coming from the EU forthwith will be exclusively to their benefit and against ours. Remaining as slaves in their club would be extremely dangerous in the economic sense. On December 31 we have to break free.
Vital parts of the supply chain must be returned back to the UK regardless of cost. We need a new industrial policy to facilitate this, given this would in affect be state aid it is not possible from within the clutches of the EU. As serious as this virus is if an even more potent and more infectious one were to come along we would get zero PPE and medical supplies from the manufacturing countries. It must be returned home.
Given the amount of businesses that are to fold we need an environment that encourages innovation, enterprise and risk. Lower taxes and lower public spending need to become the new norm. If we are to recover faster and better than the rest we need to be bold, lower taxes, lower regulations, lower public spending.
