Man dies after being attacked by cows in Yorkshire Dales

A man has died after being attacked by a herd of cows while walking in the Yorkshire Dales.

The man, 82, from Foulridge, Pendle, was out walking with his wife at Ivescar, Ingleton on Saturday at around 13:45 BST.

North Yorkshire Police said emergency services were called but the man died at the scene.

His wife, aged 78, was badly bruised and taken by air ambulance to Lancaster Royal Infirmary.

any animal can be dangerous; you wouldn't want to get locked in a stable with a petulent horse beleive me. As for cows, they can charge at the best of times, especially when young calves are around. Dusk is a dodgy period as well although why that is you'd have to ask a cow

A neighbour said the herd were a familiar sight on the farm and were often seen in the fields with the horses.

They added the buffalo always appeared to be quite quiet, and that "the owners had been seen stroking them."

Sounds like the buffaloes are not as receptive as sheep in Wales!

They should disguise the sheep as jobcentres that'll keep Richie away
