Great old documentary started yesterday, had some great old politicians commenting on this like Lord Boothby and Lord Hailsham, pity they're not around now to lead the country.

Clown Boris would have sent ships to rescue survivors at Dunkirk 2 weeks late

Hancock would hail the success of seeing our brave soldiers wiped out by claiming we had the capacity to rescue them and sending them ferry tickets in the post for grayling ferry service

Probably a bit easier to get on with things back then with a loyal press and no social media with all the know all’s who have achieved zilch in their lives that come with it.

Churchill judged on his results

Best way to do it

He didn't claim victory he went out and made it happen

Pretty amazing that he 1st became an MP in 1900, yet didn't become PM until 1940, was still PM his 2nd stint in 1955, what a career he had, Home Secretary, Lord of the Admiralty, Chancellor and fought on the Western Front in 1917, long before he became PM, what a life and what a man.

@foxy -- not the Foreign Secretary. Churchill's line was: tell the Lord Privy Seal I am sealed in the privy and can only deal with one .... at a time.

More on Churchill's famous quotes in this American interview with his biographer, erm, Boris Johnson.

I enjoyed it but it was a little light on detail epecially regarding El Alamein- giving Montgomery too much credit as usual!
