All to do with measure points, some days it will be higher, thus some days it must be lower.

Why should a prisoner done for a minor crime get a death sentence as Covid rips through the prison system ?

Report Cider May 3, 2020 5:43 PM BST
she wasn't asking why the wrong prisoners were released (a fair question if true) but she was angling for more prisoners to be released. Since they can now test at will and prison population is down overall, it's no longer pressing for them to be released early.
Report Des Pond May 3, 2020 5:44 PM BST
they shouldn't, obviously. but the death sentence on too many NHS staff is far more important, imo.

Report lapsy pa May 3, 2020 5:58 PM BST
Not sure why they is "no need" for them to be realeased, they are within 2 months of getting out,1,800 possible cases and 19 deaths to 28th Apl would say otherwise.

As prisoners should see out their sentence if at all possible. The reason for considering it in this instance has dissipated.

Report Angoose May 3, 2020 6:11 PM BST
Have the government made an announcement that they will no longer proceed with their previously announced plan ?
If they had, I reckon Mr Gove might have mentioned it.

You asked me why I'm bothered she asked the question. Who cares about this now? How many viewers do you think had early prisoner release on the minds?
Report Angoose May 3, 2020 6:37 PM BST
She obviously cares, quite why that should be, I don't know, perhaps you could get in contact with her and ask.
Would you prefer that she asks a question provided to her by the government or is free to ask a question of her own choosing ?
Report Cider May 3, 2020 6:40 PM BST
I'd prefer she'd ask a question that was in the public interest than scoring brownie point with her twatter chums. It's a free world, she was entitled to ask the question just as I'm entitled to be critical of it.
Report lapsy pa May 3, 2020 6:48 PM BST

Perhaps she believes that it was in the public interest.

That her view doesn't coincide with yours does not necessarily make her wrong and you right or vice versa.
It simply confirms that people see the world differently.

Report Angoose May 3, 2020 7:09 PM BST

The press tonight exceeded there normal stupid questions

Is it because of racism
What about the low life in the prisons
Was it a waste of time building the nightingale hospitals

All 3 journalists should have been lined up and shot
Report Angoose May 3, 2020 7:38 PM BST
You should be grateful to some of these journalists, they were very vocal in their support of the banning of fox hunting.
Report posy May 3, 2020 7:47 PM BST
The problem is that since these briefings started the press on the whole have been asking questions which are tricky in as much there's no precise answer and many of the questions have been framed to try to paint the Government in a bad light when they are obviously trying to do their best in horrendous circumstances. The focus at the moment is to imply that the Government made a mistake in setting up the Nightingale hospitals and over ordering ventilators.
As cider rightly , in my opinion says , who really worries that maybe only 33 prisoners have been released early, however I should perhaps declare that in my view  anyone who racks up three convictions should be locked up for a long time. Today's question by the young lady was just a silly attempt to virtue signal her politics.
Quite what the bloke who was bad mouthing Trevor Philips was trying to achieve is anybody's guess. Unfortunately his English wasn't easily understandable so missed what newspaper/magazine he works for.
I'd scrap the questions forthwith.

The banning of fox hunting (pest control ) really started the terrorist organisation RSPCA's anti horse racing campaign which has been run by terrorists like Jane Tredgett and Bob Bayliss.
