Many older people would rebel and risk going to prison if they were forced to remain locked down for a considerable period of time as younger people were treated differently, according to Baroness Ros Altmann.
The pensions expert and political campaigner on age-related issues, told Sky News: “If they are fit and healthy and need to get out for their own physical health then the idea that the government will tell them you are under house arrest while everybody else is out, and force them into solitary confinement… then I think they wouldn’t accept it.”
Speaking on the BBC’s Andrew Marr show, the broadcaster Michael Palin also said it would be “very unfair” to treat large numbers of older people differently from others and policy makers had to be “very careful.”

Firstly why would you impose a lockdown?
Secondly why would you enforce a lockdown! It just shows people in charge do not have a scooby. Most elderly people stay home in any case. The only people they potentially harm by going out is themselves. The real questions to be asked should be about Care Homes the rest is a waste of time. The Police didn’t arrest or fine me for drinking outside with friends yesterday. They stopped for a quick chat and moved on. Do you think any copper will arrest a blue rise for going to the Co-op? |

We already have a very ageist society, making it compulsory to discriminate against elderly citizens would clearly not be helpful in this regard.
That said, it is a very tricky problem, the intent would clearly be to protect those who are perceived to be at greatest risk, but it would simultaneously reinforce a harmful stereotypical view. |

Anyone over 69 is as good as a corpse anyway. Save the exchequer and get back to work for our masters. Simply bump them off in the most humane way possible, or second or third most humane, definitely not overly cruel at least. And then we can all go back to polluting the planet, our unhealthy lifestyles and working our crappy jobs while our government makes shady deals with tax dodgers and kleptocrats. We simply need to forget all about this as quickly as possible and go back to the way things were.

Lock up all people who fall in to these groups :

No one is suggesting they will be legally treated differently.
There is no law that allows regions or age groups or even health conditions (unless you have a highly infectious disease) to be treated differently. It will be advise for the elderly and vulnerable to shield. ADVICE. This what the NHS said to the high risk people.... The safest course of action is for you to stay at home at all times and avoid all face-to-face contact for at least twelve weeks from today, except from carers and healthcare workers who you must see as part of your medical care. This will protect you by stopping you from coming into contact with the virus. There is nothing legally enforcable that does not apply to everyone else. |
