Just saw this.... from Jan 2020 :

The former Blue Peter presenter and her husband, the creator of the Black Mirror TV series, live near Castlebar playing field in Ealing, which is used as a sports ground and play area by Durston House School.

Lessons and assemblies at the boys’ school, where fees reach up to £15,690 a year, are held in separate buildings and it wants to build a new three-storey schoolhouse on the 3.2-acre site.

Capacity would rise from 432 to 540 pupils and there are plans for an all-weather sports pitch, sports hall and auditorium. Existing school buildings would be turned into 17 homes.

Durston House has applied to build a three-storey, 540-pupil capacity building on Castlebar Playing Field
Ealing council’s planning committee has received 547 public submissions in support of the plan and 717 against.

Ms Huq and Mr Brooker, who have two children, say the project would lead to a loss of green space, increase traffic and affect wildlife.

In her submission Ms Huq wrote: “The current use and potential of this beautiful, well-maintained and well-used space by far outweighs the loss both aesthetically, and functionally to the local area.”
She is set to speak at a council meeting tonight, where officers have recommended the plan be approved.

Her sister Rupa, Labour MP for Ealing Central and Acton, also wrote to oppose the plans.

In his submission Mr Brooker said: “Building a large private boys-only prep school (in itself something of anomaly in 2019) on a publicly accessible green space will do absolutely nothing to benefit the average Ealing resident.”

A council report states that there is no public access to the field save for residents given an informal year-by-year offer to use its tennis courts. The public would be able to use the new sports facilities outside of school hours.

Durston House takes boys aged between four and 13. Headmaster Ian Kendrick said the new buildings “will cover only 18 per cent of Castlebar Field and 82 per cent of the site will remain open.

Our plans will improve biodiversity and support the Mayor of London’s strategy for urban greening.” He said local clubs who want to use the new facilities back the scheme.

Why the opposition? It's for a relocation of an existing prep school, not a loony bin or social housing for dysfunctional families. CastleBar/Haven Green is a lovely area to live; my former haunt was Queen's Drive.

Is there not a conflict of interest with Konnie getting her MP sister opposing it? Good to see Charlie getting the politics in, they just can't help themselves, hope they lost.

I wonder if they have a 2nd home. How'd her sister be even considered a prospective MP let alone won the Ealing and Acton Parliamentary seat. When I was there Ms Rupa Huq would have zilch chance, but that was 30 years ago.
