There's a consensus on the amount of time the virus can live on different surfaces.
The experts would say that to be ultra safe, yes clean or discard the packaging of food purchased. |
|
By:
bit difficult with a loaf of bread, Nick?
|
|
By:
Difficult to discard the packaging but it can be wiped over.

if you smoke blow the smoke over it,thats one way, burn everything ,thats two ways, chuck bleach over them ,three ways,
wash everything in soap and water ,four ways.the bread is ok if you toast it ![]() |

chuck bleach over them
Not neat. A bleach solution. |

i was thinking of freezing the bread 1st; thus killing the bastard germs, then after defrosting, toast it - thus killing any germs left? Just to be safe of course
|
|
By:
I think there's a higher risk (albeit still low) of the virus being present on the packaging.

i think cardboard is safe to handle, they say that if you get a letter in the post that is also safe(but thats a government statement)
|
|
By:
that's the prob, brassy i don't believe any of them. I'd rather trust someone on here
|
|
By:
I've read that the virus can survive for 24 hours on cardboard.

Ive stopped buying anything from the shops. Its too risky. Grow your own would be my advice. Ive also barred the postman in case the virus is on an envelope.
You also need to start worrying about the clothes you wear. If this virus is in the air it could land on your cardigan and stay they multiplying for at least three days. |

Just started growing . Easy , cheap and you no what you are eating .

Told the missus that my old chap's safe to touch as he's been in self-isolation for years.

Corona virus may be able to live for two years in a freezer. Not definitive but some evidence it may. I certainly wouldn't rely on a freezer killing it.

By:
Just bake all your letters. About 70°C are said to kill the little fellas potentially sitting on them.

I'm not responsible for any destroyed goods or burning houses.

Not what your Police record says !

wear latex gloves and a gas mask when having a wánk. Just make extra sure you don't get caught
|

Viruses can only multiply inside living cells, they will gradually die out on surfaces. Post can be left a couple of days before opening, nothing is so urgent that it needs immediate attention. A wipe-over of packaging with dilute bleach will kill viruses.

Have been buying bread in bags only. Sliced bread. (Always used to eat fresh, granary type bread) Decant sliced bread to freezer bags - maybe 4 small ones. Discard bag. Wash hands. Keep clean side and dirty side as per clinical practice.
Put 3 in the freezer and eat one as fresh. Then eat the other 3 as necessary. We eat too much bread anyway. |

I am glad we can still touch our old man.
Otherwise it would get messy urinating, be going all down the front of out trousers, everywhere ![]() We always wash our hands afterwards anyway |

that's a rather unnerving "we" Ebul
