UK to send flights for stranded citizens in Pakistan

'stranded citizens' in Pakistan - eh   Mischief

The British government has arranged chartered flights to bring back citizens in Pakistan after repeated calls for it amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The British High Commissioner in Pakistan said flights would begin next week, with "at least five daily flights from Islamabad and three from Lahore".
Pakistan has confirmed nearly 7,000 Covid-19 cases so far.

As we reported last month, the UK government pledged £75m ($93m) to charter special flights to bring home citizens from countries where commercial flights are unavailable.

1.01 These 'citizens are not Thomas Cook type holidaymakers, backpackers, or the like.

1.01 - Family members 'dependants' - who came to the UK to get Family citizenship - then simply went back Home to Pakistan ... and now want to escape the homeland of Pakistan - and avail themselves of the UK NHS, if needed.

The fact is that many Indians/Pakistanis regularly go back to their native country for a long holiday, and if they are British Citizens they have the same rights to be flown home as any other British citizens have, who got stranded abroad. Think the govt would be in real trouble if they only repatriated the white citizens.

They had plenty of time to make their own travel arrangements to fly "home" .In fact they should never have climbed aboard a plane to visit these countries in the first place. The warnings were widely advertised before lockdown.

Why haven't you been complaining when we have been repatriating British citizens from elsewhere during this crisis?

I have...anyone who traveled abroad after Jan quite simply should have had the intelligence to abort..regardless of the economic penalties.

It should have been made clear to anyone who foolishly decided to "take their chances" no help regarding repatriation would be entertained.
