A big percentage, but a relatively low absolute number that will still be significantly lower than the likely reality.

Rest of World starting to show number of deaths in Wuhan as looking suspiciously low.
So they add 50% on
Nowt suspicious there then now.

50% of Wuhan deaths, about 39% of overall Chinese deaths. The explanation is that deaths were recorded wrongly previously. There is nothing suspicious in adjusting figures in this way. France have done it at least twice in adding care home deaths to their total. The US did it on 14th April, when their daily deaths jumped to over 6,000. And the UK still hasn't done it for care home deaths. Despite the data being available for weeks now, their official total still shows only hospital deaths and they produce graphs showing their trajectory against Italy, Spain, France who include non-hospital deaths.

This is not China coming out and saying we lied or anything like that. Their numbers are likely understated still and they may never admit otherwise, but it is clear that Britain is doing the same thing and representing their position wrongy to the world. It could be anything from 30-50% understated too.

What is more noteworthy from the figures in China today is that they've had 361 new cases and 325 of them have arisen from the same review that led to the earlier Wuhan deaths being reclassified. That means 325 new cases in Wuhan. And if they didn't realise until now that they were coronavirus, they may have been spreading for some time.

If they hadn't added those new cases, their active cases number would have gone negative Shocked

Fair to say that most of the Chinese population don't believe a word of what they are told by their Rulers, yet some crazies over here still swallow it.

I've often wondered what sort of person is gullible enough to fall for those hoax callers/fraudsters on the phone, guess that's them.

They may not still be active, Angoose?

He is rightfully going on about the UK not adding non-hospital deaths to their total. And then misleading their public and the world by comparing their trajectory of deaths with countries like Spain, France and Italy, who have. A simple case of adding them on to their offical total but they refuse to do it.

The fcuk up was so huge and that lag should be showing bigger numbers, think is hope for those old folk that died of it have been tossed away like rubbish not counted, thousands.

It will be, as always, be some incoherent rambling attack on the Tories. It's reached a stage nobody can even understand what he is trying to say.
He's probably head of a Momemntum public relations office.

Active cases becomes an arithmetical calculation i.e Positive tests minus recovered minus deaths
Without the 351 reported new cases, their active cases would be (235) rather than the 116 figure shown.

As such, these new cases will be similar to the new death figures i.e. a backdated adjustment

Looking at the lag, biggest totals should be coming out,the last few have been very smelly.

I think they will adjust their numbers again in the next day or so. Because their recovered cases number is the same as yesterday. The only way that can be is if all of the 1290 cases hadn't been recorded as active cases. If that were the case their new cases should have been 1290 up as well, which it wasn't. I think they will adjust recovered cases too. And the 351 cases, 326 are legacy cases, only 26 are newly discovered cases.
By:

Recovered cases has moved from 77,892 to 77,944 from yesterdays numbers.
Of course, worldometers reports China a day in arrears, so "Today" is actually yesterday Crazy

Don't think so. They reset the day at midnight GMT+0 for all countries. I think the new figures are today's figures but their graphs etc are a day behind. And recoveries on 16 April were 52 according to their graphs which tallies with your numbers, ie the recovered figure for 16 April was the same as is listed for today? ie the 1290 figure is for 17th April but their graphs etc only show data up to 16th April and will show the 17th data tomorrow. The 1290 deaths isn't showing on their graphs for example, but it will do tomorrow.

YOU CAN ADD 10 % a day for non hospital deaths in this country , as I stated before they do not have a buzzer connected to a central command they press each time some poor soul passes ...

Perhaps we could have a clickometer  set up for those that are interested to keep an eye through out the day .

As for 50 %  , absolute rubbish

WORLDOMETER where do they get their figures from ... ?

Interesting, they have changed the text :

The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 210 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances. The day is reset after midnight GMT+0. The list of countries and territories and their continental regional classification is based on the United Nations Geoscheme. Sources are provided under "Latest Updates". Learn more about Worldometer's COVID-19 data

Was previously stated in there and that's what they were doing.

Now changed and that makes sense with an anomaly I noticed this week when updating my data. Grin

Look at their site, they provide links to the sources for individual countries.
For the UK, they use the daily government update.

Another 40% you can add on to that number unless all the european countries in the world are lying and just adding on extra deaths for fun on theirs..

If the figure is 40 % not 10 Gig then the nursing homes will be half empty soon

You would be looking at 2000 a week there are only 400000 in care

40% OF all IRISH DEATHS in nursing homes, as an indication, in a smaller better controlled population.

It was 50% in Italy and Spain 38% in Scotland, what is ours currently supposedly doesn't take a genius to work out its likely 5,000+
and that would be very conservative, the biggest care home privider said 2/3 of the homes thats almost 8,000 had infections..How many deaths have been in 8,000 homes considering the elderly are where the deaths are a high % 5,000 would look very generous.

hospitals and care homes are clearly covid factories, care home staff should not be allowed to move between homes.
By:
lurka
When: 17 Apr 20 15:57
A lot of care home staff are self-isolating, some of them are even over 70 and doing it indefinitely, a lot of them are off sick and don't want to contract it, so they've had to hire agency staff who move between different homes. Total mess, spread must be worse than hospitals as a lot of those in hospitals will already have it.
By:

When: 17 Apr 20 16:03
how quickly it spreads i mean, not how many get infected. Obviously way more people in hospitals picking it up

I suspect that it is more strongly linked to the UK extending the lockdown, that'll have the signal China were waiting for.

Is it possible that any Corona patient who died in China and had an existing medical condition as well, was reported as dying of that medical condition and not Corona? That would be one way of lowering the Corona death toll. Maybe the 4k odd that died in China are the ones who were only suffering from one disease.
