What did Macron say?
Asked if China's authoritarian response to bring the outbreak under control had exposed the weakness of Western democracies, Mr Macron told the FT that there was no comparison between open societies and those where truth was suppressed.   Shocked

The BBC using the word "Questioned"

I would say that he is saying they are Liars , not much questioning from what I can see in that statement ....

This will not end well for CHINA .....

saddo the chinese  funded an entire section of the telegraph that is nothing but propaganda for ten years, i think it may be ending though.

i have just googled it and your friends at the guardian carry a report on it, remarkable stuff -

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2020/apr/14/daily-telegraph-stops-publishing-section-paid-for-by-china

the story is also covered here - https://www.opindia.com/2020/04/daily-telegraph-drop-china-watch-paid-propaganda-section/

and here - https://www.prolificlondon.co.uk/media-publishing-news/international-news/2020/04/daily-telegraph-drops-dedicated-china-watch-section

Example headlines of pieces in the now-removed section included “Why are some framing China’s heroic efforts to stop coronavirus as inhumane?” and “Coronavirus outbreak is not an opportunity to score points against China”.

The Chinese handling of it has been top notch imo, like the other Asian countries. They know how to deal with outbreaks like these after SARS - get on top of it early, shut down travel, don't allow it to spread, test and trace aggressively. The advantage the other Asian countries had over China is advance notice of an impending outbreak, which the Chinese had no notice of, so it spread somewhat.

It is a completely separate issue to them lying, for which they need to be punished. Macron has not questioneed their approach at all, rather dodged the question as to whether they've handled it better and implied that they haven't been up front.

Apparently 1300 Corona infected people died in China yesterday. Does anyone know what's that about?

Nothing to do with how they tackled the virus, everything to do with how they covered it up. Two separate issues. Read what I wrote.

Yes they revised their figures in Wuhan and said they hadn't recorded deaths properly. They are historic numbers, nothing to do with people who died yesterday.

BBC disinformation...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52319462

Fox News, attributing unnamed sources, has suggested that the coronavirus accidentally leaked from a Wuhan facility because of lax safety protocols.

US media have previously reported that the US embassy in Beijing had raised concerns about safety at two laboratories in Wuhan in recent years.

However, there is no evidence of any kind that the Sars-CoV-2 virus (which causes Covid-19) was released accidentally from a lab.

The scientific consensus is that the virus originated in animals, most likely bats.

^

After stating Fox News quoted sources saying the virus was leaked from a lab the BBC spend two lines saying their is no evidence and that the consensus is the virus originated from animals.

Fox News never said the virus did not originate form animals. They just said it was from a lab. Labs can test on animals.

BBC being very sneaky there.

Why?

We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

It's not. I said it has nothing to do with how they tackled the virus.

You need to look at how they dealt with containing the virus and how they covered it up as two separate issues. Covering it up, silencing doctors, lying to the world has nothing to do with the measures they took to contain the virus within China.

I think one of the worst things they did and possibly the most damaging was banning flights and travel into Wuhan but not international flights out of Wuhan. That led to thousands of Chinese who had returned from Italy for the New Year being allowed to travel back to Italy in large numbers. But the Italians can be blamed for letting them back in too.

If they had banned international travel out of Wuhan, then their lying about it and the cover up wouldn't have been so damaging to the rest of the world. They could have come clean when they did with most of the cases still within China.

Complete and total rubbish If they lost 3000 People I am a China man ,Look at those Russian figures more shyte 200 dead ....

Incinerators were built in Wuhan, you do not need to be building those to deal with the amount of deaths reported , The true horror of what has been going on over there may never been known ,you
write one wrong thing on the Internet your house is raided the next day , there are people ,the job
would be suitable for a few on here , who monitor social media all day ,many thousands ,look up 50 centers ,literally thousands of them reporting to Beijing .. What happened to all the phones that suddenly were no longer on line 20 million , a quick disconnection job for many ....

If only 3000 died over there , the answers  are 1: its bullshit , 2: A high percentage of the Population are immune ..

I certainly hope the answer is NUMBER 1...
