the lesson of the maps is that the lower the density of people per square mile, the lower the number of Covid cases per 100,000 of the population. It is about the number of human contacts (within 10 metres or so) per day. In my case apart from my wife it averages about 4 and that is not much different from pre Covid days. I have never lived anywhere that had street lights apart from when I was student 56 years ago. If you don't go near people it is much harder to catch this or any other infectious disease.
