They won an election with Get Brexit Done and they realise just how powerful simple phrases are with a simple population.

Like you i just wish they would shut up.

I switch on talk radio most mornings( to listen to Mike Graham)  and its now unlistenable...every 15 mins we get the same Government ad .After 4 weeks it really is not necessary. Its tedious, boring and condescending .

The general population are quite thick though, the images of geriatrics standing outside their houses banging pans with rolling pins thanking a health service that will encourage them to sign a do not resuscitate form basically encouraging them to accept their death with no help from the NHS must rank as up there for madness in the stupidity stakes

We've told you before to do up your trousers properly before heading out to walk the dog. Grin

its subconscious you don't think its going in your not interested, I was the same at work 30 years of elf and safety ,course after course.blah, blah, clock watchoing, then eventually you walk down the street point out worker,s,scafolder,s,,window cleaners, etc etc, working unsafe,
same now with social distancing you might not think your doing it to order but you soon realise when other,s arnt doing it,following the rules, guidelines
Report Angoose April 14, 2020 7:55 PM BST
It's interesting to observe individuals move away as they pass you in the street.
Got me thinking if they were doing it for my benefit or for their own.
Report Akak April 14, 2020 7:59 PM BST
30 yrs offshore health & safety does become second nature. Everyone found it boring as hell. But you do eventually take it on board and end up taking it home with you as well.

Me too, thats my wife not yours. Wink All about risk analysis. You start to assess any tasks your about to take on. I certainly can't knock it, although I spent many a safety meeting sound asleep in the cinema.Love

Report Akak April 14, 2020 9:04 PM BST
Yes. I packed offshore in after the Piper, for a couple of years, but ended up back again. Absolutely hated the chopper flights, especially shuttling in atrocious weather conditions. Should have been banned!!

Did you ever see a video about Ken Woodward's accident at the  Coca Cola Schweppes factory in Sidcup ?
He lost his sight as a result of not wearing PPE.

Subsequently dedicated his life to informing others of his accident and urging them not to be victims.
I know someone who was at a safety breifing where the video was shown.

After watching it, the leader of the meeting asked peopel for their thoughts on what they had seen.

One wag piped up that "it was his own stupid fault".

A voice responded "yes it was", then the source of the voice walked to the front of the room with the aid of his guide dog.
You could then have heard a pin drop.

It was Ken Woodward.
True story.

i once saw a programme about two planes that crash landed in similar circumstances, one full of normal customers and one full of airline staff. the proportion who escaped was much better for the one with airline staff.
Report Angoose April 14, 2020 9:23 PM BST
If you constantly have to remind people to wear PPE, you have failed.
Safety requires to become a culture, a way of life, a behaviour that you exhibit at home, work and play.

don't no if anyones ever seen it but the daftest most ridiculous one ive seen is in America, where members of the same family and a few workmates all die
ones goes down into a hold and is overcome by fumes dies, his son or somerelative noticing he,s been gone a while follows him down and dies, then a workmate from 50 yds away notices they've been missing awhile and follows them down, then another workmate, all to do with confined space safety system unreal really and true story, mus does get a laugh because its like am keystone cop chain of events
