Plenty of old folks will simply be throwing in the towel especially those living on their own. "Natural causes". All the things they live for suddenly taken away from them and no end in sight

My mother used to work at a care home and there is anecdotal evidence of residents peaceful passing away following a significant event.
That event could be the death of their partner, reaching a notable birthday etc

Maybe the worst thing about the care home situation is family members not being able to visit and in many cases the residents are not going to understand why and feel abandoned. Also it's inevitable that their care will suffer - probably the biggest reason is that typically it's the family visits which keep the standard of care up and the family that hold the homes and staff to account.
