Yep peaceful anti-lockdowns protests in Ohio and Vancover.   Not that big but its a start.  A cursory(thats all I can stand) glance at MSM and surprise surprise no coverage.  Anyway most dare not question the status quo.  It is better to cow down to authority and wallow in misery.  To force a sick person to stay indoors is quarantine.  To force a healthy person to stay indoors is tyranny.

I suppose calling it a 'lockdown' gives them the impression that they are in a maximum security jail, rather than living, eating and exercising in a reasonably secure environment whilst helping their fellow citizens avoid catching the deadly virus.

At least 15,000 cars and trucks are expected to descend on Michigan’s state capital on Wednesday to protest what they’re calling Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s tyrannical new guidelines to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus in the state.

The so-called “drive-by” demonstration – in order to maintain social distancing -- aims to bring traffic to a gridlock in Lansing and protest the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order by Whitmer, a Democrat, mandating what businesses could stay home, what some businesses could sell and ordering people in her state against any gatherings – no matter the size or family ties.

“Quarantine is when you restrict movement of sick people. Tyranny is when you restrict the movement of healthy people,” Meshawn Maddock, an organizer of the protest with the Michigan Conservative Coalition, told Fox News. “Every person has learned a harsh lesson about social distancing. We don’t need a nanny state to tell people how to be careful.”

In the UK, we need the PM to tell and show us how to wash our hands and also tell us that he was merrily shaking hands with COVID-19 patients, before he himself became such a patient.

I've little doubt that the cure will be a lot worse than the virus, but what is much harder to gauge is how bad the virus would've been without the cure.  Unabated it would've caused much greater mayhem, that would've sent the world economy into economic turmoil anyway I reckon.

Lockdown is probably the best short term solution, but it needs to be lifted, and life will have to carry on with the threat of the virus in the background, until a cure can be found.  Testing is the most important thing to achieve close to normality, which is still woefully inadequate.

Here is a basic chart compiled form ONS data released earlier today for weekly death registration sin England and Wales.
It shows the weekly average for deaths registered for the previous five years alongside the weekly figures for 2020.

The most recent week is Week 14 which ended on 3 April.

The official number of COVID-19 deaths in the whole of the UK from week 10 to week 15 is as follows :
2  9  166  582  2,846  5,553   These figures are for deaths in hospitals only.

For the three days of Week 16 reported to date, the number is 2,371.

So, for Week 14, a five year average of 10,305 versus 16,387 for 2020.

I think ffaith has posed a great questioned though somewhat clumsily and somewhat leading

I am in favour if the three week lockdown. I would reluctantly agree another week but I really think we should be looking at getting utility workers and field workers back out there as a minimum. Must be plenty of other areas of the economy too but there is no discussion.

I think many Americans like Gungadin do not understand the seriousness of the situation. I would be happier if those in Michigan marched instead of drove. I am a big fan of Charles Darwin.

The question of freedom, however, is an interesting one and I would like to hear other people’s POV on being locked down. For my part all I will say is the rules don’t apply to me as they don’t to Government, their friends and family. I will look after my own family as best I can and not put harm in others way.

The Ohio protest is covered by The HighWire with Del Hightree.   Vancover by Press for Truth both youtube channels.

Ohio and Canada have low deaths per capita. Michigan is on a par with the UK and Holland for deaths per capita
