its only a virus, what are these guys doing.Surely these guys with the brains must have something to kill a virus .the mind boggles as to what they are all doing this last 4 months.in fact SARS virus is a first cousin of Corona and discovered in 2003.So what have  these guys been doing for 17 years.?

So after 17 years they give the world breaking news"wash your hands "and it will stop the spread of the virus"
it beggars belief.

for the life of me i can not understand that if an iodine tablet can kill radiation in the body(i am talking about RADIATION) Why can it not kill a little virus.an iodine tablet will fill every single cell in the human body with a backpack of iodine ,and is proven to be safe to take if you have a healthy thyroid gland .now we all know that radiation can kill a cancer cell,so can someone explain to me why it can kill a cancer cell and it can not kill a little virus.

so if someone has cancer and corona virus, give them a dose of radiation treatment  and see if the radiation treatment kills corona, and then give them an iodine tablet.problem solved. But it costs money that's the real problem.

We may not have realised that SARS would mutate into covid-19, or that it would be so dangerous?

Not all human beings are clever, you need trained experts to deal with something like this, we cannot just pull them out of a hat
By:

so cut the middle man out and just give a guy with the virus an iodine tablet.problem solved.

If that cures it Brassneck You had better tell our governments

Would radiation treatment for everybody who has this virus be in any way practical or even possible

They seem cheap on the Internet Brassneck, I will order some iodine tablets in case I catch the virus

And they use iodine in hospitals every day of the week,a case of something sitting on front of you but you don't see it.IMVHO.

NO NO NO UBLE,i am talking to scientists ,never take tablets without advice from a doctor, you have to protect your thyroid.

Iodine plays a key role in thyroid health. As a treatment, iodine helps with goiters (enlargements of the thyroid gland) and high thyroid levels such as in thyroid storm. After exposure to radiation, iodine can provide some protection against thyroid damage.

Iodine may have other uses. There's some evidence it can be applied to the skin to help treat foot ulcers related to diabetes. It may help protect against mouth irritation caused by chemotherapy.

It also seems to help with fibrocystic breast change. That's a noncancerous condition that happens to some women around the time of their period.

Most people get more than enough iodine in their diets. One teaspoon of iodized salt contains 400 micrograms of iodine. That's more than twice as much as most adults need each day.

no need for radiation,if a iodine tablet can kill radiation it should kill a virus.
let the scientists test it first.

Iodine doesn't kill radiation in the body. Pre-loading the body with Iodine prevents the absorption of radioactive iodine released in a nuclear accident.

Would you like doctors to give you a drug or vaccine which hasn't been thoroughly tested Brassy?
Human testing takes time. Just because a new drug doesn't kill you within a couple of days doesn't mean it won't have longer-term side effects. They have to be checked out thoroughly before administering millions of doses.
You could help by volunteering to be a guinea pig in the interests of science.

It's also one thing to test stuff in isolation in a lab, an entirely different thing to first of all even get the drug to the relevant parts of a human body and to have it work in the desired way once there, without interacting in a way that turns it malicious or inefficient.

When a vaccine does come along for COVID-19, it will likely be rushed through testing, skipping several steps in the usual process.

I'd imagine that the pharmaceutical company who gets there first will require to have governments provide indemnity from prosecution should it later be found to have harmful side effects.

foinavon, just above your post my last line i say"let the scientists test it first"thats my point for this thread,
The scientists need to get off their backsides and look for a cure, but as far as i understand they just sit about and read text books on science each day,and when the TV crew come to visit ,they put their protective gear on ,and pour a glass of water into a beaker and talk about their relentless search for a corona virus cure.when the TV crew leave its "put the coffee on and back the internet of read some books"Laugh

That's why a vaccine won't be ready until the end of the year, drinking too much tea and reading books while waiting for the test results.

Vitamin C + Zinc.

Builds the immune system and helps you when you’re sick.

Yet to hear any of the Boffins seconded to Govt mention this.

Haven't the government and Jamie Oliver been telling you for years to have good nutrition? With that comes your body being supplied with all the awesome vitamins and minerals.

Govt advice is to stay at home..

No mention of the importance of fresh fruit, veg, a lot of exercise and vitamin c and zinc.

The best way to be healthy is building immunity. Cut the booze and processed food. Or just stay home, climb the walls and slowly deteriorate mentally and physically...

They've even created an extra page about the role of various vitamins and minerals, listing what to eat for them, and some stuff to eat in times of crisis

ok, not a government agency.

Either way, as an adult you know those things. We aren't toddlers that need to be told every day to eat our veggies, are we?

They are also telling you to wash hands more regularly than normal, whereas there's been an emphasis on healthy eating and no booze for years.

any vaccine WOULD HAVE TO BE TESTED on those who are effected most by the virus old, underlyning problems etc,the very people who,ll be effected most, most severe by any side effects of a vaccine
obviously those on here will be saying their the perfect volunteers because their going to die anyway

Just vaccinate children. They're robust, and they are also the ones who, without vaccination, are the biggest enemy of any grandparent's health. Their natural function in the cycle of life is to kill their grandparents really.
By:

This isn't about the coronavirus, but regarding the flu the strategy advocated by many is to vaccinate much more of the younger population, especially children. One of the reason is that they are, by nature, germ superspreaders that are out to kill older people. The other is that their immune systems can tackle a larger variety of the mutations after having been "inspired" by the vaccination. I could imagine this being true for this as well.
