This guy misled the public.A few weeks ago he stated to the good people of the UK that the government were prepared for every eventuality regards the corona pandemic. Now he can not even provide enough protective clothing for nurses and doctors.Surely he has committed a crime against the health service people in the front line who believed him .And people have lost their lives.Sad

He's a Tory. Covering things up and protecting their own is what they do. If Patel can go from being in bed with the Israelis to a numberwanging Home Secretary I reckon handjob will be fine.

Hancock and the logistical team throughout the UK have done a sterling job under an enormous amount of pressure
When you are slagging him off, you are slagging off all the people who are working 24/7 to help deliver PPE
The people on this forum are either incredibly obtuse, Chinese sycophants or more than likely their hatred for the Tories blinds them

There are scores of countries who only dream about having the equipment, PPE that we are giving to our health care teams. Look at Africa and SA where they are bare handed and don't even have water to wash their hands!

Where is the god given right that every member of the NHS has the correct PPE at any one moment in time?
Some hospitals have more than enough and some are struggling
I'm afraid to say wake the fùck up, that's life sometimes and you just have play the cards you are dealt

How many times do people need to be told that PPE is a consumable and has expiry dates.
Imagine if they had purchased a load of PPE and then the virus had fizzled out
The same prìcks on here would have moaning about wasting money!

No matter how many models you use 3,000 (alleged) deaths out of 1.4 billion would never ever ever trigger a crisis.
Once all the govts realised the Chinese had been lying they suddenly were all fighting over a finite amount of products
Add to that the Chinese ransacked all the masks, PPE in January so there was a huge shortage
They are now selling it back for a profit, how nice of them

Every govt has made mistakes, this is a once in a century situation that is fluid and hard to get a grip of
Even the countries that started off well are starting to struggle with different issues.

The SNP’s leader at Westminster has written to Boris Johnson demanding that he take immediate steps to allow the suppressed report into Russia’s interference in the British political system to be published.

Ian Blackford, the leader of the third-largest party in the Commons, called on the prime minister to begin appointing members of parliament’s intelligence and security committee, necessary to allow the controversial document to be released.

“It is unacceptable that your government has repeatedly and intentionally failed to take steps to establish the committee and has sought to escape scrutiny on vital issues,” Blackford writes in a letter that has been shared with the Guardian.

“The public interest and the imperative is and has always been clear: lift your sanction on publishing this report and re-establish the intelligence and security committee so that it can be immediately published,” the SNP MP added.

A report on Russia’s spying activities against the UK and its attempts to penetrate the British establishment had been prepared by the committee in the last parliament, and had been made ready to publish when the election was called.

Members of the committee saw evidence of Russian infiltration in Conservative political circles, but it is unclear how much of that concern reached the final document, which some sources say was watered down even before it went to Johnson.

Boris Johnson says there is no evidence of Russian interference in UK elections – video
Ministers have repeatedly said there are no examples of “successful Russian interference” in the 2016 EU referendum or an election, although there is scepticism as to whether that has been properly investigated.

The report was nevertheless awaiting final clearance from Downing Street, to check it did not contain any classified information, when the election was called. No 10 said it was not possible to clear it in time, a point disputed by the previous chairman of the committee, former MP Dominic Grieve.

Downing Street eventually said after the election that the report was cleared. But its release depends on the appointment of nine cross-party backbench MPs and peers to the committee’s membership, a task that falls to Johnson after consulting with other parties.

Last time, committee members were not appointed until November 2017 – five months after the general election, prompting complaints that “effective and robust oversight of the intelligence community” had been “left in a vacuum for so many months”.

In recent years, the SNP has had one member of the committee, including at one point Blackford himself. But party sources said they had heard nothing from No 10 to suggest the appointment process had even begun.

The party acknowledges that the appointments process can take a while to find people willing to serve on the committee, which meets in secret in Westminster. But it wants Johnson to produce a timetable swiftly.

“Russian interference in elections is widespread and well documented, the evidence that Russia poses a direct threat to the functioning and operability of democracy among our allies in the EU and beyond is overwhelming,” Blackford writes.

“If this report, as you have recently claimed, shows that Russia has never interfered in any democratic event in the UK then it is inexplicable that you chose not to restore public trust and publish this report before the 2019 general election.”

The Tories led by the Bullingdon Boys and the hapless vicar's daughter sytematically cut the NHS to the bone. The buffoon of a prime minister caught the virus through his own stupidity, shaking hands with all in sundry and singing happy birthday whilst he laughingly washes his hands. He has so far escaped the wrath of the people who meekly swallow the story that the government are on top of the situation and Boris is on the mend. Meanwhile the trimmed down NHS is overwhelmed and front line staff are dying through lack of PPE and adequate staffing. They have promised billions of new investment and 50,000 nursing jobs and have written off billions of NHS debt which they shouldn't have had in the first place, but it's a bit too late to save those who shouldn't have died.
The hapeless Hancock and co who were only promoted because they were brexiteers, have been exposed as clueless. We're all in it togehter they say, well I'd agree with that- we're all in the sh1t, some much deeper than others. The fallout from this will be profound and the government will be held accountable.

They had an idea of what was coming and they were caught like rabbits in the headlights. An F1 team turned its attention to building Ventilators. They were not asked by the Government. They could not organise the buying of PPE. My God why would anyone try and defend them?

where is the god given right for every nhs worker to have the correct ppe

FFS ITS THE FOOOOOOOOOOKIN UK LAW, any nhs worker not using the correct ppe could be arrested prosecuted,if any one can prove a member of your family were infected by a nhs worker not wearing the correct ppe and have subsequently die ,the nhs worker could be charged with corporate manslaughter.
its the hospitals trust,s legal duty, hancocks lega duty and every nhs worker legal duty not to work without the correct PPE.

THIS ISNT a foooooking choice its the legal obligation of every worker in the uk to use the recommended  personal PPE,AND IF THE COMPANY,GOIVERNMENT CANT PROVIDE IT THE WORKERS SHOULDNT DO THE JOB

Just quoting a figure is bollocks - sounds a lot but obviously not enough, that's why the government have promised more money and more nurses. During their time in government we have seen longer waiting lists, nurses pay frozen for 4 yrs, greater use of bank nurses and a lowering of staff moral. Great news that they are planning to put this right and hopefully more so given the experience of the virus but they've been caught with their pants down and people have died as a result.
